Please help me with this problem. ANYONE (and there are millions) smarter than me.Everything works perfectly including all my (50 gig) of programs except for the audio and video slowing down ...even to where it "skips" in peices until the computer catches up? I only have 512 gig of ram and a 1.6 pentium processer but this has never been a problem untill the last several months. I can do virtually NO multi-tasking due to this slow down.Disk-clean , defragmentation and a full restore will not fix this.I have done all I know to do short of having to buy a new pc!
Please help!

By the way , this pc came as a bundle with monitor, keyboard, mouse and tower and it has (from what I understand) integrated video/audio.

Hello.
if the problem you are having, only includes the video and audio
reproduction, you should check the following:
- Make sure you got the latest Codecs for audio and video reproduction( MPEG, etc, there are many codecs packs to choose, and not all work properly.)
- Check for the version of DirectX you have, try to get the latest
version( i think it is DirectX 9.0 C)
to check the above, click on - START - click on - RUN - type dxdiag and click ok, there you can get info about many devices on your pc.
Less likely but check anyway:
- You have properly installed the latest Sound and Graphics adapter drivers.( you can visit the motherboard manufacturer's website to get the newest version of Drivers for your hardware).
- If you need clarification, ask it in the comment box above.
- Better answers use proper spelling and grammar.
- Provide details, support with references or personal experience.

Buy a CD Lens Cleaning Disc from Walmart. Run that a couple of times. If that doesn't fix it send it back.
Oh, it a portable Sony Disc Player clone. That means it has to be 15 years old or more. Actually, I found the date '18/6/2007'. It's a new 14 year old device that has been in storage. Emerson are a bargain basement brand and generally lack quality..
I see two possiblites your flyback tranformer has failed and with it your horzital output transitor has shorted. most technicians can replace these. IS the spark in the front or back of tv. if it is in the front this is a tube. as a tech i would first identify what compnents are sparking. also this could be a capacitor shorting cause a burnt curcit board
Sorry. It seems that your battery is dead. If your laptop is working fine on AC power only (with the battery disconnected), then your battery will need to be replaced.
Hello Flecia, hi;
The processor speed do someway affect the speed of your webcam, but the most common reason why webcam gets so slow is the program that shows the video. Skype has good quality videos, depending also on the speed of your internet connection and the graphics card installed on your PC.
Check also for computer viruses, these programs and malwares slows the PC down. Well a clean PC is fast enough, check also your hard drive, you may need to defrag it every month. Your Ram is sufficient enough, and your processor being a 2.8 ghz is still fast.
So here are the things you may need to do.
Defrag your hard drive every month. or better, reformat your PC every 6 months to a year.
Check for computer viruses and malwares.
Install Skype (which I recommend) for your webcam online software.
Get a fast Internet connection (if you are willing), atleast DSL minimum is 512KBPS.
Typically when that happens your auto focus sensor has become dirty and it takes longer to focus on your subjects. Make sure both your lens and AF sensor are completely clean. Use a soft high thread count cotton cloth to wipe them clean.
Check your lens on the laser....is it dirty? IF so it needs to be cleaned....STOP !!!......the laser lens is on the focusing mechanism, which is EXTREMELY delicate.
TO clean the lens, get a Q-Tip and some distilled water ( the lenses are plastic, so do not EVER use alcohol, cleaners, window cleaners,etc... on the lens. These will make the lens cloudy and you will then have to replace the mechanism).
Moisten the Q-tip ( Not to the point where it is dripping, but just moist ), and CAREFULLY clean all dust and dirt off the lens. Wait 10 minutes untill the lens has dried completely and try it then.
Hopefully this solved your problem. Dirt is the enemy of all Optically read formats.
Wide bands in the playback video indicate a clogged or defective video head assembly. If your cleaning tape appears to resolve the problem, the heads are getting contaminated. I would not use the same tape in this unit. Try cleaning the heads and then use a brand new tape to avoid clogging the drum assy again.
If this does not resolve the problem, the drum assembly will have to be replaced.
Hope this helps.
