Hello. I need to scan a document and email it to someone. When I try to scan, I seem to only have 2 options: scan and print, or scan to memory card. I don't have a memory card. Can I not scan and have the document copied to my computer?

If your HP Printer is connected to the computer it should be able to save the scanned images to your computer when you start the scanner using the scanner icon on your computer. The the way is to save the images to your memory card and transfer them to your computer using a memory card reader, then you can email these images as a file attachment in your emails.
1 Turn on your computer and printer, and make sure they are connected. 2 Load your original document. 3 Click Start >> All Programs >> Dell Printers >> Dell Photo AIO Printer 964 >> Dell All-In-One Center. 4 Click Preview
You should now see a preview of your scanned document.
Adjust the dotted lines if they are not completely around your document. There is a 'Send scanned image to:' option -
You can save the document to your desktop.
Now go into your mail program and when in the body of the email, use your programs features to attach the scanned file document to your email (you did not specify the email program you use, so this is just a general mention of attaching the file to your email).
Did you install the HP software that came with the scanner? I believe it is called the "HP Solution Center". If so, you can open this program to scan. Once you scan the item, you will have the option of where to save the file.
Download
this free
tool and run it on you card and it should be able to recover all
pictures provided that you have not used the card since formatting. I
recommend using a card reader for this.
After downloading and
running (no installation required) , simply select deep scan and your
memory card and it will start scanning, To recover a found file , right
click it and select save.
Please note that the file names will
probably not be available and also that some of the properties of the
photo like date taken could be lost.
Second option:
Remove the memory card from the camera so that you will be able to access the internal memory. Follow THESE steps to transfer the photos from your internal memory to your computer. These steps should be followed without the memory card in the camera.
Please let me know when you
have recovered your pictures safely or contact me if you need further
assistance.
In most cases, you want to scan to file and save the file in a folder of your choice. I have a 7310 xi all in one and I have a folder on my desktop named scans. When I scan a pic or document I save it as a jpg (pic) file or a PDF (document) file to that folder. Then when I email someone, I attach the file using the attach button on the email page.
this happened to me too. i don't know how to fix it on the printer, but i scanned it through the computer. i went into the hp solution center, went to the scanning section, and told the printer to scan it from the computer. it worked fine. that way you don't have to save it to a memory card or anything. they went to the same folder all my other scans go to.
i would like to know if you did completely install the printer software of this printer.if you did kindly locate the icon HP SOLUTION center,go to settings>>scan setting>>san to set-up>>restore to defaults.kindly check now if the front panel destination list has generated the options then click apply and OKAY.try to press now the scan button of the printer is the scan options are generated...

Check your documents folder under My Scans. I found that my scans were going in there. I had to open them to put them where I wanted them.
I also have the problem of the missing line up upload to my computer. If I restart the computer with the 6280 on the line reappears and I can scan what I want. I have asked HP what the problem is with no real solution. They seemed to think that since it works after restarting the computer that the problem was solved. The option shouldn't disappear from the screen at any time, but I guess I'm stuck with restarting the computer every time the problem comes up. Hope this helps.
