    Hi there,
The problem I am having is that even with the thermostat turned off the pump is still running. I had to turn the breaker off at the wall panel in order to shut off the pump. Yes it is a hot water boiler system, sorry I hadn't mentioned that previously.

I want to express my thanks to you and funoldman. I located the problem...It was two out of three zone valves not functioning. Replaced them and woohoo now have heat.

Hi,
The pump running will not hurt anything except that it takes a bit of electric to run it...

Now, is the t-stat still calling for heat and the furnace just shutting down on high limit?
Maybe you have an air lock and the water is not actually circulating through the pipes, there fore you are not heating properly...

Is the pump relay stuck closed and not releasing so that the pump keeps on running...

These are a few of the common problems and what I would check right when I came to look at your system to troubleshoot it...

I'm assuming this is a hot water boiler for heating. Typically the boiler temperature is controlled by a thermostat that senses the boiler water temperature. Thus when the water gets to temperature, the flame shuts off. The Circulating pump would be controlled by your thermostat in the living space. When you require heat, the circulating pump comes on and circulates the already warm water from the boiler through your radiators or fin tube heaters. When the water starts circulating and cools, then the boiler will restart, starting the cycle over again. If it is a large system, the pump could either run all the time, or by outside temperature circulating the loop , and then sectional thermostats would open valves for that area ( such as in apartments where you have a thermostat in each room)

The next step would be to determine if you have a line voltage thermostat (usually only on older systems) or a low voltage thermostat. (The one on your wall in the living space) If it is low voltage, then it would be supplied from a transformer, and in turn operate a relay that turns the pump on. This relay could be bad causing the pump to run.Sometimes when a relay gets old the contacts may arc, and cause them to stick together, although usually the fail open. Another possibility, is that your system is wired fail safe to heat. In this case if the thermostat would fail, the pump's default condition would be to run. So test the operation of the thermostat.

Robertshaw thermostat will not shut off heat

gas or electric furnace? sounds like bad sticking t-stat but could be sequencer or gas valve. The fan will continue to run if the unit is hot safety feature so the fact that the fan continues to run does not mean the t-stat is diffidently bad.

Pump connected to furnace keeps running

Hi, If the supply pump continues to run after the heat shuts off, you will need to find the pump relay that runs the pump. This will be the problem as it sounds as though this pumps relay has contacts that have welded there self together causing it to stay on. Trace it back and it should be easy to locate. Try giving it a gentle tap and this may open the contact that is closed. Keep me posted on this. Good Luck,

Draft fan keeps on running after furnace shuts

That sounds pretty normal for most furnace/heater products. They run the heating element with fan for a cycle then after the heater reaches temperature it will shut off and the fan will continue to run to cool the element and to circulate the heat that it produced. If you want the manual for this product it looks like you can get it here: http://homeappliance.manualsonline.com/ex/product/headline/m/Coleman%2BEvcon/d/furnace/p/DGATO75BDC

I have outside Goodman-Janitrol furnace and air unit and

two things to try first to get you pointed in the right direction. First disconnect the R or RH wire from the T-Stat. If the furnace turns off (Stops firing w/ fan to turn offabout 90 sec. later) then you more than likely have a bad Thermistat. If it continues to run Pull the R wire from the Furnace circuit board. put door back on furnace if it stops you have a short in the wire. Still Running? Most likely a bad curcuit board. Hope this helps.

Furnace runs but won't ignite.

Error code 12 is blower on after power up. Meaning: after you turn on power to the furnace for aprox. 60-90 seconds the blower will run. The blower should then shut down and the furnace should go through the start up process, providing that the thermostat is set for and calling for heat. If the furnace fails to start after blower shut down there should be a new fault/error code. However if the blower continues to run longer then 90 seconds and continues with the same fault code more then likely the circuit board is bad. Please let me know if this was helpful and give me a rating. Good luck.

GMC FURNACE MODEL GMPN060-3

Sounds like s safety or overheat switch is tripping. Clean or replace air filter, inspect the venting for restrictions and make sure all registers are open all the way and not blocked by furnatue. Also check the condensate to make sure it is draining. If it continues to not heat, call a technician.
