One solution -- reinstall the CD recovery to factory default settings

go to START, in bottom START SEARCH, type in recovery --- go to that part of the software and format the drive , reinstall and set to factory default -- back up any data you need first before taking this approach

if this helps , leave me positive feedback please.

I have a Dell Studio 1537, Webcam stopped working and now states to please plug in a supported device when I pull it up, looked under device manager and the only thing listed under imaging is facap,

it's an external webcam or webcam on the top of the monitor?
if it's external, have you checked Universal Serial Bus controllers on the device manager? the problem might be the USB has '?' sign on it,uninstall it and restart your computer
if it's the one of the lcd monitor, try to find a key on the keyboard that has webcam picture on it,then press it with the Fn (function) key at the same time when the computer is on

No it doesnt sorry but ive seen some very cheap and small ones on ebay which can just clip onto the screen and plug into a USB port. I bought 1 from China $7 including delivery and works great. Please dont forget to vote

If you still have the motherboard installer CDs, try to uninstall your built-in webcam software. Restart your laptop and then install the webcam software again following the detailed instructions of the installation wizard.

Web cam on latitude e6500

I have same problem. I downloaded the latest webcam driver, installed it. Everything is fine, in the device manager the device are present. But when i try to load the webcam application from dell the device is not present or not installed appear.
Notice: if I try the YM webcam, the device work properly - that's mean the device driver is OK.
So the E6500 is a beautiful great notebook, with poor software.

Built-in Microphone

Per the owner's manual:

http://support.dell.com/support/edocs/systems/ins9300/en/om/om_en.pdf

No, this system has no internal microphone.

You will need and external microphone to record/transmit audio. If you are going to do video conferencing, most high quality new webcams have a built in microphone in the webcam
