Cleaning dust and dirt from the lens (inside)

You are going down a dark alley here, these lens are specially coated very high quality optics and very easy to damage if not handled properly. You are taking a big risk with a high dollar item. I would think twice.

Cleaning a lens should only be done with a non-scratching cloth and tissues designed for optics; moistened with plain water or cleaning solution designed for optics. Use of paper towels, glass cleaners, ammonia, etc. can scratch and strip special optical coatings from lenses. Apply water or solution to cloth or tissue - not to optics.

Do not lubricate lenses. Lubes attract dirt and dust and can seep into the lens and gum up aperture blades and eventually cause them to stick. Nearly all lenses do NOT require lubrication. Lenses should be cleaned professionally when not working correctly.

1. Carefully clean your binoculars by firstly removing any dirt or dust from the main body and straps using a soft microfibre cloth. Avoid the lenses at this point using any form of cloth on the lenses before removing all dirt and dust particles first could destroy them.

1. Gently remove all traces of grit, dirt or dust particles from the lenses using a soft lens brush or canned air specifically designed for the purpose.

1. Waterproof binoculars can be rinsed gently under a tap but be sure to use on lightly running water, avoid high pressure water as it could damage your binoculars.

1. Gently remove any remaining marks using lens cleaning tools such as a lens pen or lens cleaning fluid and lens tissue. Do not be tempted to use kitchen towel or anything else lying around that is slightly rough and may scratch the surface of the lens, only use a lens pen, lens tissue or a lens cloth. Gently wipe the lens using a circular motion working from the centre of the lens to the outer edge. NEVER apply lens cleaning fluid directly onto the glass (always apply to the cloth) and always ensure that the lens cleaning fluid you are using is recommended for the type of lens coatings that have been applied to your binoculars (Do not use general household glass cleaning products or products designed to clean computer screens or glasses. Such products could destroy the lens coatings of your binoculars if used).

Your projector needs little maintenance. The only thing you need to do on a regular basis is

to keep the lens clean.

Never remove any parts of the projector except the lamp. Contact your dealer if other parts

need replacing.

Cleaning the lens

Clean the lens whenever you notice dirt or dust on the surface.

• Use a canister of compressed air to remove dust.

• If there is dirt or smears, use lens-cleaning paper or moisten a soft cloth with lens cleaner

and gently wipe the lens surface.

Never rub the lens with abrasive materials.

Your lens would need to be absolutely filthy with enormous dirt specks to cause the fault you describe. Dust, fingerprints, and regular minor debris simply doesn't show in the final image. In any case, you cannot clean inside the lens without dismantling it and that is a job for experienced specialists only.

Your fault is a dirty image sensor. You can buy sensor cleaning kits, but if you're inexperienced with them or trying to clean the sensor in a dusty environment you'll just make matters worse. Many camera shops offer sensor cleaning while you wait at relatively low cost. The reason you don't see the dirt when taking the picture is either because you're looking through the optical viewfinder or because the LCD screen simply doesn't magnify the image enough to show the marks which are present in the image.

You can prevent the dirt from reoccurring by never leaving the camera with the lens throat open for more than strictly necessary, and by always trying to keep the open lens throat pointing slightly down when swapping lenses.

the unit will spin the up the internal fans and begin cleaning the internals of any dust particles and debris that built up on the lens and optical pickups. this will normally be sufficient to get it working again.

If that fails theirs blue ray Cleaning disks that be be purchased and they will clean the lens and optics very effectively. sometimes restoring them to working order.

Hold the camera upside down and gently blow off any grit and lose dust particles. Next lightly wipe the lens with a few drops of lens cleaning fluid, place the fluid on the lens cleaning paper, not directly onto the lens and then wipe the lens.

Built up dirt particles like dust or smoke on the lense can cause this. Buy a cleaning kit with a disc that has brushes that you dab with a small amount of alcohol which spins in the CD player and cleans the lens.

If the specks are just on your viewfinder focussing screen, they won't be on your pics. If they're on both your pics and focussing screen, you need to find someone else to clean your camera. Cleaning either your CCD sensor or your screen yourself can leave scratches. Changing lenses often can suck dust into the inside if the body is dusty. Try another repair shop for thorough cleaning - it shouldn't cost more than $50.
