could be a mother board problem but before you replace it try a few things first

remove the memory and try to boot
unplug all hard drives apart from master and try to boot
go into the bios and load default settings rty to boot

when you mean doesnt boot do you get the welcome screen ? says windows xp etc

if so then its a windows issue and you need to reinstall windows

if after trying all of this the yes maybe its a mother board issue

this can be due to compatibility issue b/w the chip and the board.
maybe this board cant run the chip that u r trying to use.

... and tell me, what is your question. The hard drive doesnt care what the mother board looks like with the following proviso ... you have a IDE drive not ... the new mother board must support it. You have a serial drive, the mother board myst support it.

As long as you can plug in the drive, the drive doesnt really care.

If everything was working fine before, and you flashed bios unsuccessfully, then yes, if would be a bios problem.

If you didn't flash the bios you should check the connections on your monitor. If that's okay then check your memory, hard drive and cpu.

After studying your case i feel that there is problem with your hardware may be mother board so before doing any more RND its better you show it to the Service Center

the problem might lie in the fact that the mother board and cpu cannot be handled at the speed

or it requires the jumpers to be set by so that the cpu can be clocked properly if you got a mother board spec guide follow the guide for *********** board to set up 3.2

you might also have to set the bios to the cpu speed cause if mother board doesnt do jumpers no more the setting would be in bios
hit the delete key direct are power up this will take you to bios
its not the battery

did you go into the new bios and check to make sure you have the hard drive setting on auto, then check your boot order that the drive is first to boot., if that doesnt work create a floppy boot disk (google it) and see if you see the hard drive when you do that.

n as u said u think ur mother board doesnt work , so if ur motherboard is not working is ur motherboard capable enough too install a windows without any errors? if yes then ur motherboard is 100% working its just that the video card that u'ave bought was not compatible enoguh to fit ur motherboard

i have never heared of any hardrive being able to boot when it is set as slave, as the master is always the 'C' drive from which windows looks for the master boot record. why, if you have only one hard drive is it set as slave?, it doesnt make sense. No hard drive will boot up if there is no jumper cap on it, as the motherboard needs to know which hd is master and has the o.s on it.
