Hi
Ask Jan on the Janome website.

I would imagine that Janome universal needles would be fine for this machine.
Thicker needles are required for sewing thicker fabrics.

Janome sew mini needle not picking up bobbin thread.

Hi: Is this a needle provided with the machine as new? What type of fabric are you sewing... have you tried a different fabric? Is the bobbin placed into the machine correctly with it unwinding in the right direction?

My Janome mini compact will not sew through a double layer of flannel. I have tried changing the tension.

sometime the needle & thread are not compatable--try this & see if it work for you
Cut 6-8 inch piece of thread of the spool you are going to use for your project
Take the needle you are going to use for the project
& insert the thread thru the eye of the needle
& lift one end of the thread to a 45 degree angle
& if the needle is the right size for the thread it will slide down the thread
But if the needle hangs on the thread you need one size larger needle for the thread

Needle thread will not pick up bobbin thread on

Change the needle first and make sure it is in the correct way round, failing that you may need to retime the machine, if you email me I can attach instructions [email protected]

Janomes sewing machine bobbin

Hi. Check to make sure the needle is in correctly. There is a flat side on the needle shank and that has to be facing a particular way. For most modern machines, the flat side of the needle faces to the rear, away from you, but it's always a good idea to check the manual to make sure on your machine. If the needle is bent, that can cause the same thing, but it's almost always that the needle is in wrong.
Happy Sewing!

Timing is off on Janome decor. How to adjust or how much to repair in a shop?

It first needs to be determined if the needle bar is off or the hook. Most likely the hook. You need to take it to a qualified shop. I would charge about 75 to fix if it truly was out of timing,

SIMILAR PROBLEM OF TOP THREAD ACCUMULATING IN BOBBIN AREA

it sounds like a needle threading problem. if you have the instruction book, pull yout needle thread off the machine and re-thread as per the book ie presser foot up and make sure thread goes betwen tension discs and up over takeup lever.

to check needle tension is ok, lower presser foot and pull needle thread through needle, the needle thread should be tight enough to bend the needle a little.

goodluck,

scott.

Accessories for the Janome Mini Sew

Almost all of the Janome feet are interchangeable. Only a very few of their higher end electronic machines have special feet. So, if you ask for Janome feet, in general the stores give you the general purpose feet that work on most mechanical Janomes, such as Jem Gold, Decor, etc. Hope this helps!
