Help driver problems!

Ok heres my problem early today my brother went to go boot up his computer doing his normal eveyday tasks when the screen gose black.
after some trouble shooting thinking it was the monitor i brought it over to my tower stated it up just fine just to make sure i left it on for about 30 min just to make sure it wasent going to die after 10 min of use. seems that it all boiled down to the 512mb graphics card was burned out.. having a few spair cards on hand i first uninstalled the old drivers in safe mode(did this with the onboard graphics card) to reasure that i got all the drivers files.
when installing the other 256mb card into the machine and booting it up installing the new drivers (oddly the drivers for each card are one in the same) when i go into advanced options its showing the correct name of the card and series yet its still showing that it is a 512mb card... i would assume that running this card at a 512mb rate might mess up the card and or the computer is there a way for me to fix this ?
Cards series if needed:
Geforce 7600gs 512mb DDR PCI-E
Geforce 7300gs 256mb DDR2 PCI-E

Nvidia produces one (large) driver for all cards in a series.

Make sure that the onboard Video Adapter is Disabled first (done in Device Manager).

Then try Updating the Driver for the GeForce card in Device Manager (you don't have to Uninstall it first).

If it still comes up with 512 Mb, call me back.

If it works, rate this fix as FixYa so I know it worked.

Good luck.

I've got a problem with my cctv cnm 160GB H 264 4 channel DVR I have 3 cameras set up on it and 1 of the cameras have stop working I've checked all power and cables and they are all working fine the...

Remove all the cameras then reboot. If it boots up normally then shut down dvr and add a camera and repeat. If it doesn't solve the problem, the issue is probably a video card or motherboard issue and will need to be repaired or replaced.

there is something wrong with the video driver or the monitor...If the screen shows something like the devices when it boots up...and only goes blak when it logs to windows...I mean if you see all on the screen until you get to the windows logo..this is a operating system error ..a driver seting or crash...so ...just reinstall it ..or repair the operation system ..cause if it is a setting on video driver or a error ..you can not fix it if you do not see anything ..
if the system boots but you never see a thing on the monitor...not even the writen devices when it first starts..or the bios..this means that the screen or the ribbon of the monitor has a damage on..try to change its position...or so ..but in this case you will need a ribbon for sure ...

Windows xp will not start, only leaves me with this message on a blue screen STOP: c0000218 {Registry File Failure} The registry cannot load the hive (file):SystemRootSystem32ConfigSOFTWARE or its log...

1) Restart your computer and when it's booting up press F8 and try and get it into safe mode.

2) Restart your computer press F8 and select last good configuration.

If methods 1 or 2 worked you can ignore the others.
NOTE: you might have to press a different F key then F8, but most times it's F8.

3) Get a hard drive enclosure and turn you internal hard drive into an external hard drive DO NOT FORMAT ANYTHING. From there just back up all your important data and return you computer to factory settings. (http://lifehacker.com/software/hard-driv…

Blank screen, can only start programms by task manager

Try to boot Vista into Safe Mode. Tap the F8 Key right after you turn on the computer until you get the Advanced Boot Up Menu
and use the keyboard arrow keys to select Safe Mode. The next screen may ask you to select your operating systm. Select Vista, not the Recovery Console.

Does your task bar and icons appear in safe mode? If so, it might be one of your start up programs that is failing and causing explorer.exe to fail during normal boot-up into Windows and not allowing your taskbar and icons to appear. Click Start and type in msconfig and hit enter then click the Start Up tab and look at all the programs that start up when Vista is starting up. Do Not uncheck anything in the list that you do not recognize as you may uncheck drivers or Vista starting programs that you computer needs to start up Vista properly. Google anything you don't recognize and uncheck any Start Up programs you do not need to start when Vista boots up, like Quicktime player or Adobe Reader for example. (This would also help your boot up time into Vista)

Sounds like explorer.exe crashed. Try opening up the Task Manager again, and Click File > New Task and type in explorer.exe. See if the task bar and your desktop icons appear.

If they appear for a brief moment then disappear again, the Windows explorer.exe is corrupted. Explorer.exe will try to start and then fail again. You may need to use System Restore to bring your computer back to a date and time when the computer was working properly, before the Vista update.

Blank screen

you can try pressing f8 to boot on safe mode, then try to set the video cards resolution to low, its possible that the resolution rate is set to high when the computer is booting normally thats why you get a blank screen, the video card cannot cope up to the resolution, or could also be the drivers for the video card you might need to reinstall an updated driver.
