HP Deskjet 5440 with Windows Vista HELP!!

I have Vista and I already had my printer installed and it printed color. A few days later, I printed again and it wouldn't print in color. I tried for quite some time to figure out how to get color printed but wasn't able to. I then decided to start over again and uninstall and re-install the printer. I can't install now for some reason. It's telling me that I don't have the correct operating system.

PLEASE HELP!!!!
THanks!

Setup with a netgear print server

Be sure you have it setup correctly and the IP address is correct. Also you may want to check with Netgear on whether or not that model is compatible with Bi-Directional printers.

Hello, I just bought a new laptop that has Windows Vista. My printer is a Hp Deskjet 5440 and it is not working. I dont think it is compatible with windows vista... is there a way to MAKE it compatible?......

HP Deskjet 5440 is compatible with 32Bit version of Windows Vista. You can check for device compatibility with Windows Vista at the link below:

http://www.microsoft.com/windows/compatibility/Default.aspx?type=Hardware

You need to install the drivers for this printer to make it work with Vista. To download the updated drivers for this printer, go to the link below:

Printer

Windows comes with drivers for many HP printers.

You can try to install your HP deskjet 5440 by going to (depending on operating system) "Start", "Printers and Faxes", "Add Printer". Select a local port. Select "HP" and Model "HP Deskjet 5440".

If 5440 is not in your list, or if you want the latest driver, you can download the driver for your specific operating system here:

Stoopid Printer #*@!

Slow printing can be a result of excessive TMP files and a fragmented HDD. I would do a search for *.tmp;*.chk files, del all you find, goto IE, Tools, Internet Options, del cookies, files, and history, set history to 1 day, under settings, locateed next to Files, set diskspace to 10 MB, exit out, reboot, disable any screen saver you have, then do a full defragmentation of the hard drive. THis will take some time, best to set it to run overnight.
Once finished, do a fresh reboot, then try to print again.
