Check if the seals were removed from the bottom of your color catridges before installing into printer

Be sure you have it setup correctly and the IP address is correct. Also you may want to check with Netgear on whether or not that model is compatible with Bi-Directional printers.

HP Deskjet 5440 is compatible with 32Bit version of Windows Vista. You can check for device compatibility with Windows Vista at the link below:

You need to install the drivers for this printer to make it work with Vista. To download the updated drivers for this printer, go to the link below:

on the bottom right side of your computer screen you will find a icon of a printer.click on it .a screen with the printer driver will apper and the job you printed will be listed on that screen.right click on it and then click "cancel"you can leave the printer turned of as it will take a few minutes to do this.during this time the printer will keep pushing out paper if it is not turned off.

You can try to install your HP deskjet 5440 by going to (depending on operating system) "Start", "Printers and Faxes", "Add Printer". Select a local port. Select "HP" and Model "HP Deskjet 5440".

Slow printing can be a result of excessive TMP files and a fragmented HDD. I would do a search for *.tmp;*.chk files, del all you find, goto IE, Tools, Internet Options, del cookies, files, and history, set history to 1 day, under settings, locateed next to Files, set diskspace to 10 MB, exit out, reboot, disable any screen saver you have, then do a full defragmentation of the hard drive. THis will take some time, best to set it to run overnight.
Once finished, do a fresh reboot, then try to print again.
