We have a 2 line phone. One of the lines shows 'in use" and it is not being used. When you call it, the message says to enter your mail box code.

It sounds like the one handset has not released the line. What you want to do is take the battery out of the headset and unplug the base station for about 30 seconds. Then plug the base back in. That shoudl force the line to reset. Next plug the battery back into the headset. Try it and see if it functions normally or it locks the line again. I'm hoping this is just a one time glitch and not a failure. If the line works normally then hopefully this is a one time event. If it locks the line again then the handset needs to be replaced. It's also possible this is a indication of things to come. If it works after resetting the two, it might ocur again. If you can clear it and it keeps repeating, it may do so more and more until it no longer resets the line. There is a slight possability this is a base station error but thats pretty uncommon. Unfortunetly there is little you can do to repair the handset and it would definitly not be worth doing so. Basically your only option is replacment.

Slide the "DATA PORT" switch to whichever line is showing it has a message. Press the corresponding Line# button on the front of the phone. Select Mbox, enter that locked extensions mail box number, You will see password RESET. Select RESET. Release out. This will reset that mail box password to 0000. Use feature 981 on that phone and enter the new default password of 0000. you will then be prompted to change the password.



Feature 985 will show you the extension of the line you are using.

My MBOX is locked on my T7316E Nortel phone. Also, trying to retrieve messages from home I somehow changed the password and I don't know what it is.

I cannot retrive my voice mail messages from my sciphone i68+

If you have voice mail on a land line as opposed to your cellular phone, you shouldn't have an icon on your cellular phone to retrieve any but the voice mail on your cellular account. If there is a special phone number that you call to retrieve your land line voice mail, then dial it, and enter whatever codes are required to retrieve your land line voice mail.

Try reversing the polarity of the phone line - some Central Office equipment reverses the line voltage to indicate Message Waiting. Your jack may be miswired (for a lot of phone equipment, polarity doesn't mattter).
