Frigidaire washer won't agitate

GLWS1649A - we had a drop in water pressure. first it wouldn't drain or spin. you could force it by resetting the load size and manually forwarding the cyle knob. Pressure is back up, but now it won't agitate when it's filled. It's making a running noise, but won't agitate. you can move the tube by hand though. help

Hi Cinebar.
this is what i found from the internet so not sure if this will be off help to you.
There could be several reasons why your Frigidaire washer will not agitate, including problems with the power supply, the wash cycle or the way in which the appliance was loaded. It is a good idea to try to resolve the problem with your washer yourself first since unnecessary repair call-outs can potentially be expensive if your appliance is outside its warranty period. Troubleshooting your Frigidaire washing machine will take about 15 minutes.
Confirm the water shutoff valves are open. If your Frigidaire washer cannot draw water from the pipes, it will not fill or agitate. The shutoff valves are usually located behind the washing machine where the water pipes meet the wall. Allow the washing machine to cool down for 30 minutes. Frigidaire appliances automatically shut off if the motor starts to overheat. The cool-down period lasts for half an hour if the appliance has not been switched off manually.
Verify that the detergent draw is tightly closed. If the dispenser is left open, the washer will not start or agitate its load. Push the draw so it sits flush with the front of the washing machine.
Ensure that the washing machine door is closed. As with the detergent door, the appliance will not start if the door is left slightly open, to prevent water from spilling onto the floor. Push the door closed until it clicks, and try your load again.
Confirm that your Frigidaire dryer is set to a spin cycle. If your dryer is set to a soak cycle or is currently in the soak portion of a longer cycle, it will not spin or agitate the wash. Make sure the appliance is set to a spin load and try again.
Contact Frigidaire if problems continue. You may be entitled to free service if your washing machine is within its warranty period. See Resources for Frigidaire's contact information.

SOURCE: frigidaire front washer has power but won't fill up, drain or go through correct cycles

You'll very likely have something caught in your drain pump. First set the washer to drain and spin. If you hear a hum or grinding noise and the water in the tub isn't draining or it's draining slowly you have something in the pump. If you take the rear panel off you'll reveal the drain pump at the right front corner or maybe middle on this model. if you empty all the water from your machine you can take off the spring clamp (this can be tricky) attaching the thick rubber hose from your tub to your drain pump. (you may want to have some old towels ready) With this off you can feel around for what's blocking the drain pump's impeller. You may want to take the screws out that secure the drain pump to the base and the other spring clamp that attaches the drain hose to the drain pump. Good luck!

SOURCE: frigidaire washer model FWX833AS1 top load

Hello Lcl2610.
welcome to Fixya,
My name is Huuum,

How old is your machine?
I have found some reasons of what may be the matter!
List of thinks to check
1.Defective Lid Switch
Check lid switch for proper operation. Check the switch for continuity. If it is found to be open, replace the switch assembly.

2.Faulty Direct Drive Coupling
The Direct Drive (motor) Coupling may be broken. Many Whirlpool/Kenmore brands washing machines utilize a small, relatively inexpensive direct drive motor coupling. It's plastic and rubber and is mounted to the shaft of the motor on one side, and to the transmission on the other.

It can wear out over time or fail under overloading conditions. This protects your transmission from excessive loading.

3. Faulty Water Level Switch
If the water level switch is not resetting once the water is drain, power will not be available to operate the motor during spin. Check the water level switch for proper operation.

4.Will not drain and displays F/02
The error code F/02 will be displayed if the drain time exceeds 8 minutes. Press pause/cancel twice to remove display. Check the pump filter and wiring connections on the pump. If all looks good, replace the pump.

You may want to use a pro, rather than attempt this project your self.

Let me know how it goes!

Thank you Huuum.

SOURCE: frigidaire front load washer won't spin, belt looks good, makes noise

Don't have much experience on Frigidaire. Is the motor a brush type, capacitor type or one of those new DC types? If it's got brushes and they are ok, then I would say your armature is up the creek. If it's a capacitor type (unlikely) then the capacitor is most likely duff. If it's the new DC type it could be a lot of things, most likely the module which breaksdown and passes an AC component in the motor supply which make the motor tremble but not rotate

Figidaire FTF630as0 won't agitate. The door locks and water drains but won't agitate or spin

Hello Tina Kaha - Often when a unit does not spin, it is because the unit cannot properly drain and dispose of the water and detergent solution. Does the unit make a humming noise? If so, the drainage hose/pump may be clogged and needs to be cleaned. If not, the washer may possibly be experiencing an issue with the door lock assembly, faulty pump, timer or control board not communicating correctly. Because it could be a number of any one of several underlying causes, I would recommend contacting a professional to properly diagnose and repair the unit.

Fiirst started with a buzzing noise, then next load wouldn't spin proper, then not at all, unplugged washer to reset, tried a small load and it won't run water now, after running 10 to 15 minut

Take the power plug off the wall. Be prepared for a lot of water before attempting the following. It doesn't spin because the unit is not draining water. It will not spin with water in it - must drain first. Check drain hose for kink, check exit pipe for blockage. Remove the front access panel, bottom front; if you find a pipe there with a cap -this is for draining water. Could be your "coin trap assembly" is blocked, therefore not allowing all the water to pump out. Remove the clamp that connects the trap assembly to the pump and clean it out.
If helped, pl say so.

My Frigidaire Commercial Series FCCW3000FS 27" Coin Operated Front-Load Washer will not agitate or spin clothes out. Please HELP!

You should check your serial number at this link:http://www.cpsc.gov/cpscpub/prerel/prhtml09/09292.html

There was a voluntary recall issued on your model number. The serial number will confirm if your machine is affected.

As to your problem, i would still suspect drain pump is struggling or inoperable. However if it seems to drain ok and your pump is still relatively quiet except for a nice mellow steady hum (there should be no rattling sound) then i'd take a look at the pressure switch. The pressure switch sends the signal to begin agitation (water level in tub is full) and spin (water in tub is drained.)

I have a Roper ras7133kq1, top load washer. About 3 months ago I replaced the lid switch because it wouldn't drain or spin. Now it will ONLY spin, it won't fill with water or agitate, the only way...

If it won't fill you will need to replace the "water inlet valve" on the back of the unit. The unit will only agitate if it gets the signal from the water level pressure switch.
Here is the valve to order.

Frigidaire top load washing machine- it fill water but will not proceed to the next cycle to agitate. reset has been done but it does work out. it will drain and spin

Your water level sensor can be faulty and is not triggering to give the Yes for the next stage to go ahead with the program controller.
So check if the voltage is received by the controller , if not check the pressure switch.

Agitating to many times

Have you verified that you do not have a siphoning condition? The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r587481-prevent_washer_siphoning

Please double check the installation and placement of your drain hose. If the top of the standpipe is sealed off, or if the drain hose is shoved too far down into the standpipe, this can create a vacuum. This can cause the washer to constantly siphon out of the wash tub on the fill cycle and the washer will continue to fill (as needed) to maintain the water level. In other words, what may appear to be a significant problem, can be something as simple as a simple placement issue with the drain hose.

If you have further questions, please let me know. If the diagnosis is not correct, please post back and also let me know, so that I may be able to assist you further. I hope this helps you.

Washer filling over and over

Check the placement of your drain hose. This may be a simple issue of siphoning. The following link explains:

http://www.fixya.com/support/r587481-prevent_washer_siphoning

Make sure you have a sufficient air gap at the top of the drain stand pipe, and that the drain hose is not placed in the standpipe too deep. This can cause the water to constantly siphon out of the wash tub and the washer will continue to fill to try to maintain the water level.

Please let me know if you have questions, or if you require additional assistance. I hope this helps you.
