Scanport N7 14 or 15" I think - it works fine with an older IBM laptop but not with my new Dell (it works but then when I close the top it causes a blue screen of death. Yet, when I use it with a dell lcd display at work, no problem. is this a driver issue? Thanks

Could be. That monitor came out when Windows XP was new. It is difficult to find authoritative information on it

Why would my older dell laptop start running 'slow as a snail'? It came with windows 7, but I took the free upgrade to windows 10. Ran GREAT @ 1st but now slow. *I have a Dell Latitude 2120*

Windows10 is a very heavy APP based system, you may have noticed how few of your older programs works or how many new "APP" you have to install ?
W10 also comes with all the APPs switched on, meaning that every bit of the RAM and connections are drained by these same APPs all downloading their own updates permanently and at same time.
If you are on metered connection, that means all your data allowance will disappear quickly.
You need to turn all tiles OFF. Some are not easy to find and some need removing altogether. W 10 is a constant fight to keep the APPs from stealing my data. It updates constantly and crashes itself on a daily basis. I have slung 3 computers because of W10. Rolling back to previous versions blanked the laptops I had and the desktop got fried because of the driver updates.
I cured all my problems buying a top of range W7 laptop very cheaply (i7 Dell) that shoots from the hip and never crashed once.
trying to make your computer "like" something it wasn't designed for will make it sick. W10 is a massive program, huge and messy.
Many will like it, I don't because it caused me expense, time and stress.
My i7 Dell is 3 years old but does everything I want and plays high end games very well too ! Not to mention I can watch my DVDs, plug in mutliple screens etc etc....
You may find your computer works fine after you find all the OFF switches but keep an eye on updates that switch them all back on again.

Some time no display, normaly server work fine,...

I have same problem with my previous DELL and now with my new (1550) onr too.

Sometimes when starting up the laptop with own display (not remote one, which this problem has never occured) the display just keep to be black. Sometimes it helps to close dislpay (to make laptop to go "sleep" mode and then open it up again, but this does not help always).

Maybe this is normal behaviour for DELL laptops ... This is last DELL that I bought.

Ibm laptop

This is caused by a component fault. The culprit is usually the memory card slot. The design of the laptop is bad. The Memory modules rest on the door. This causes (after some time) the slot to develop cracks in the soldier points. The fix is to get a new board or try to soldier it yourself. good luck

I recently replace the fan in my IBM Thinkpad R52. Ever since, when using the power cord it suddenly shuts down after booting for about 10 seconds. But if I use the battery it boots fine.

I would open the case back up to make sure nothing else got moved around when you installed the new fan. If it was close to where power plugs into the laptop, you might have knocked something loose that could be either stopping the fan and causing heat to shut you down, or causing a short when the fan varies its speed.

I HAVE A DELL COMPUTER, AND A LYNKSYS MODEM AND ROUTER. I HAVE TRYED SEVERAL TIMES TO GET THE ROUTER TO WORK SO I CAN USE MY IBM T40 LAPTOP, WIRELESSLY. EACH TIME MY INTERNET ACCESS ON THE DELL IS TURNED...

sounds to me like u r running the dell in the usb, and it has to be on for the ibm to work, or you have a dual ip addressing problem, which is a negative to the ibm when the dell is off.

My son has a IBM think pad as well, and when he uses the Ibm with his linksys wireless router he has the same problem, or did until I addressed the dual ip address issue, which I had to change the Ip address on our netgear, and left his as was and changed the one from My Dell inspiron 8600, I suggest you go to the linksys web site and follow the re install of new drivers for your router and if possible upgrade. they have available w wireless handing software program available to linksys customers as a trial you can download called NETMAGIC which also works quite well, and your able to monitor your network and it usually works well, I've used it until I upgraded to my netgear wireless G router.
hope this info helps you out.
