Put your window XP disk into the Disk drive. Start up your computer. When it asks you what Drive you want to install it on select C:\ (where Vista is) Say yes to deleting the current Operating System and follow the instructions from there.
You did say you wanted to Uninstall Vista!
If you mean Dual Boot Vista and XP, then you will need to create a Logical Partition of about 10 Gb to install XP on and when asked where to install select this partition. But note that XP will wipe the Boot sector clean of all other Operating Systems which means that if you want to Dual boot then you will have to reinstall Vista again to get Dual Boot functionality.

Are you using a full version retail or OEM copy of WIN XP to install? Or is it a recovery copy from another PC or laptop? You will need to use a full version disc to perform the retrofit. You will also need to download the WIN XP Drivers for your laptop from the Dell Site. You CANNOT "upgrade" install WIN XP over VISTA and keep your drivers, settings, files. Performing a WIN XP install will require a total wipe of your hard drive. Therefore you will have to save off all your personal files before you do this. Microsoft doesn't provide assistance for downgrade-type installations, so you must basically wipe your hard drive and then reload the OS.
Sir, Your laptop is working perfectly. It is not that Win 7 is not recognising the dual cores of the AMD TURION 64. The information interface in Win 7 was designed that it recognises the dual cores as a single processor. So dont worry. Try "Advanced System Care" to repair all your registry, spyware, hard disk and all OS related problems. It too shows you the System Information. There are also lots of websites that scans your laptop and tells you the system information. Google it for those sites. Thank You.
Did you download the latest audio drivers from Dell.com? If not here is the link to the drivers for that device based off Vostro 1400 using Vista 32 bit Edition.
