Our kitchen aid dishwasher is about 7 years old, recently it has begun making a high pitched whine while the wash cycle is running. The dishes are still clean, but the noise is new and annoying not to mention that it could be the start of a big problem the model number on the dishwasher is kudlo1lL

Sounds like it could be the bearing in the wash motor. If the sound is only present when you can hear water being thrown around then this would confirm it. Not sure about spares availability on a 7yr old machine though

Sounds like you have 1 of 2 problems. Either your pump is clogged or you need a bigger drain loop.

SOURCE: My Kitchen Aid KUDI01FLBL3 is not cleaning my

Most likely there is debris at the pump impeller. This model has a problem with debris and grease accumulation at the pump inlet. I have no idea how it gets past the screen but it does. Remove the transfer tube on the back wall, the lower sprayer, and screen assembly. Clean out the debris and reverse installation.

SOURCE: kitchen aid dishwasher not cleaning dishes well.

sounds like you have a broken chopper. have you checked the chopper how far have you taken it apart? if the unit is put back together point all wash arms in the same direction turn the dishwasher on after it has started washing give it about 2-3 minutes open the door and see what wash arm is not moveing. if the upper wash arm is not moveing you need to check the chopper.

SOURCE: Kitchen Aid Model # KUDP01ILWH2 Dishwasher dishes

Hi.

Using too much rinse aid will not work. Stick to user manual factory prescriptions. If you use correct amount of rinse aid, and the right product for your dishwasher, that is not the cause of the stains.

Ensure that you are using the right detergent along with rinse aid. Check specifications on manual.

Ensure that the drain well is clean.

Ensure that spray arms have enough pressure, check water level and impeller pump.

If you still get stains on dishes, and you are sure that they had been caused by limescale, that means that the water in your house is too hard. This will also damage your appliances in the long term, causing faults due to accumulation of limescale and rust.

The best thing to do is installing a water filtration system on the appliance inlet.Call your local appliance shop or technician to discuss about the problem and purchase a filtration system for your appliance.

High pitch whining sound when unit goes into wash or rinse cycle. does not seem to wash well. need to rewash dishes. unit is a kitchen aid model # KUDIO1ILBS6

Hi--  The whining is most likely coming from the motor bearings.  Failure occurs when the seal between the motor and pump begins to leak.  If inspection by flashlight underneath tub reveals the telltale leak by the ---powdery deposits on the lowest part of the motor case,---   then the motor/pump assembly must be replaced. I have replaced well over a hundred of this type motor for exactly this problem.  Therefore, the only solution for the problem is to replace the motor.  The part is about 125$, and is easy to install if you can pull out and re-install the dishwasher.   Please acknowledge this posted solution.  Have all kinds of info on this unit if ya need it.  Thanks-  Ed

How do you fix a noisy whirlpool dish washer DU1100XTP(Q) ?

A hard object has entered the wash module (on some models).
When the object is ground up, the sound should stop. If the
noise persists after a complete cycle, call for service.

Kitchen aid dishwasher

Either:
  1. the water does not get into the dishwasher open the dishwasher 3-4 times during cycle, you should see some water at least once, if not - check water valve, water level float and water pressure.
  2. the pump is clogged - there is water, the motor will run but no water is circulated. Check pump filters, check chopper and impeller.
  3. motor in main pump is not working - could be caused by something stuck on the impeller or chopper or could be a problem with the motor itself or control board. Check if line voltage is coming to the motor during wash/rinse cycle.
Good luck,

Dishwasher Making Loud High Pitched Noise.

A loud high pitch whine while running the dishwasher means that there is something caught in the chopper assembly. To get to the chopper assembly you need to take the racks out and take the pump apart from the inside of the dishwasher. The chopper assembly looks like a metal grate with holes in it. And it might not even be stuck in the grate but somewhere in the pump area due to the water being pumped out, so the best idea is to take the whole thing apart and clean everywhere. However I do not recommend doing this unless you are completely certain you will remember where the screws and gaskets go, otherwise you risk damaging your pump or house from a leak or improper installation. You have been warned.
