Paradyne 6218-12-200 won't connect all computers

I can connect with my(wireless) Dell, however the router assigns me a public ip address(66.), same deal as a desktop connected with a lan cable. It will not allow another wireless desktop to connect. The wireless desktop's lan manager shows a connection with good signal strength but it assigns it a private ip address.(192.0). It did allow the wireless desktop to connect once but I have not been able to repeat the connection.

A public IP address is usually assigned to the WAN port (outside/public side), which is how your router is conected to your Internet provider service.

A private IP is always assigned to the private network side (LAN = Inside). Unless you are hard coding your IP addressing on each of your devices, you will need to have DHCP enabled in your router with enough user IPs for your devices (more than 1).

What is the IP address for my Firestick?

The IP address of an item, unless you specifically assign it one, is done automatically by the router when it connects to the network. This address can be different each time the device connects depending upon what other devices are already connected.

Wrt54g2 dhcp problem

You must enable the DHCP setting on wireless router if you've configured the computer's wireless adapter to obtain an IP address automatically. If not you will get the "failed to acquire an IP address" error when you try to connect to wireless network! Also don't forget to configure big enough IP range on router's DHCP setting, because the router won't be able to assign IP to 6 computers if you only configured 5 IP space on router.

Try assigning your laptop a static IP. To do this in Windows:

  • Open Windows Start menu.
  • Open Control Panel.
  • Classic view: Open Network Connections
Category view: Select Network and Internet Connections, and thenNetwork Connections.
  • Double-click on your active LAN or Internet connection.
  • Click Properties
  • In the General tab, highlight the Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) item, and clickProperties.
  • In the General tab, click Use the following IP address, and enter: - IP address. The static IP address you want to assign to this computer (try 192.168.1.110 to start). - Subnet mask. Subnet mask used by your router (try 255.255.255.0 to start). - Default gateway. IP address of your router's default gateway (try 192.168.1.1 to start).
  • In Use the following DNS server addresses, enter all the IP addressses for the DNS servers your router uses (or you can try your router's address, probably 192.168.1.1).
  • Click OK.

My hardwired computer gets on line but the other two wireless can't. I've reset the router several times but no luck. Checked all the connection still no luck.

Check if the router is assigning IP addresses to the Wireless devices. Also se if you hard-wired desktop has been assigned an IP address manually. Else try to assign IP's to wireless devices manually (Depends on your setup)

Please rate if helpful.

Dell latitude E4300 having wireless connection problems and disable and enablewifi i get 169.XX.XX.XX sometimes

The 169.254.x.x IP Address is known as an APIPA address:

http://www.webopedia.com/TERM/A/APIPA.html

In your situation, it is indicating that the system is not receiving an IP address assignment from the Router.

Troubleshooting steps:
  1. power off, then power on the router and the computer, see if the system gets a valid IP address.
  2. Right click the wireless connection, click Repair
  3. Reinstall the wireless driver
  4. try a different wireless network see if wireless works on another network

Network did not assign a network address to the

Hi there, the only reason it doesn't work it's because the wireless key is not correct. It usually shows limited connectivity when the wireless key is not correct. Even just a letter upper or lower case will cause the problem. Since you are connected with the other computer go under the Router settings and double check the wireless key. Check what kind of encryption the router is using, make sure your wireless adapter can support it.

I HAVE INSTALLED THE WIRELESS-G PCI ADAPTER THAT CONNECTS TO THE WRT54G ROUTER. I HAVE CONNECTED MY COMPUTER AND EVERYTHING SAYS THAT NOW MY COMPUTER IS WIRELESS. WHEN I GO WIRELESS I GET THE MESSAGE THAT...

Once everything is attached you have to reboot everything so your router can assign IP addresses.

If your wireless pciG has a static IP address that is not in the proper range e.g. (if the router is 192.168.0.1 and your desktop is 192.168.15.1 then you can not log into the router, the router has to assign IP addresses in its range of 0.2-0.50)

If your IP address is assigned dynamically, then everything has to be re-booted so the router can assign the address in it's range.
