No water flow on Fisher and Paykel smartdrive 708 washing machine

Fisher and Paykel smartdrive 708 washing machine not filling.
Started load normally, but I opened the lid and water flow stopped (normal) but when I then closed the lid water flow did not resume. I switched off power and tried again and all well. Next load same problem but from the outset, no water flow when start pressed. All lights on control panel work and respond to pressing the buttons so I assume that it is the lid/off balance switch, but dont know where it is to check it or to replace it?

Thanks, no little red button, it has a magnetic reed switch according to manufacturer, but I am not sure what I am looking at. There is a white plastic vertical lever down by the barrel that ovbiously activates the off balance switch when pushed. I have tried moving this but no affect (it clicks). Would this be the switch and if so, how do I unstick it or bypass it? I have removed the hob and found the main board - no obvious burns or faults.

Hi ...thanks for the prompt reply! I have found the blue and black wires that you mentioned. Just want to make sure that I will be cutting the right ones, these blue and black wires run from the front of the machine on the right, back to the control area, and then join together with a yellow and a white wire in a plastic 4 way connector which plugs into the orange plastic mainboard container. These yellow and white wires run from the connector to a switch (?) underneath the orange plastic container on the right. Is this the reed switch under the container, and should I perhaps be cutting the yellow and white wires that run to it and not the blue black that just go to the connector?

Hi I have had another look and think I know what you mean now. The blue/black wires run from the control box up under the hob and stop about 2/3 of the way along the hob towards the front of the machine where they are screwed into a plastic fitting - is this the switch?(I thought the switch was under the control box, which was confusing the issue) If so, I should cut those wires just before they go into the hob,and join the ends of the wires leading into the hob, The other cut ends that run back into the control box should just remain cut (and the ends taped with electrical tape?) Correct?! Diagrams would be good wouldn't they!!

Take the lid off, just open it & pull it straight up.There should be a little red button that the lid strikes against unless its a different model,in that case it has a magnetic reed switch under the right hand side of the hob.press this red switch instead of closeing lid,see if it fill with no problem.the lid may not be making good contact with switch..if thats not it then it may be the inlet valve..then you can try the hot,if theres no problem with hot then its the cold valve.

Hi there, thanks for replying back. The out of balance switch sounds fine. It's going to be the magnetic reed switch located under the righthand side of the hob,you have opened the control box only.but thats good, there will be a bunch of wires (wire harness) & clear tube to the right.in amongst that lot there will be 2 wires (red & black) or (blue n black) running up toward the front of the machine under the hob (right side) they will be leeding to the magnetic reed switch.if you just want to bypass it then chop them & join them together.Join the 2 leeding back to the out of balance switch, not the 2 running toward the front under the hob.See how you go.let me know hey?

You got it now.leave the yellow & white wires alone.the lid switch is the one alone the side with the plastic fitting.that is the magnetic reed switch.(lid switch)the one under the yellow control board is the out of balance switch.it's fine, dont touch that or the yellow n white wires. cut the blue n black wires & join only the one's leeding back to the control area together..now ur laughin! I love it when a plan comes together..let me know hey?

Smartdrive 708 water coming in slow

Turn off the water. Pull each water hose, from the back of the machine. Inside where the water hoses connect to the machine there will be small screens. Use a small pick and gently pull them from your machine. If the screens are clogged, use a brush and some vinegar to clean them, then put them back in.

My fisher and paykel smartdrive 708 stops at rinse/spin cycle with machine still full of water

with no error code ... I would check you drain pump or drain hose... you first may want to try a shop vac connected to the end of a drain hose .. let me know if it helps

The machine stops at wash cycle every minute or so

Firstly, the model 708 is way more than 9 years old. More like 18 - 19 years old. There is 2 types of errors on a smartdrive. One is signalled by a single beep every second & the top row of lights will change. The 2nd is a rippling musical sound (like when you turn the power on at the wall) and some lights will be blinking. You need to tell us what sound it is and which lights are blinking or which of the top row lights are on (exactly, count from the right to left and which number is on & which is off) There is no such thing as a reset to do. Once I know the fault I can advise you what to do about it.
