may not have a jam put a missfeed which is the paper can not be picked up by the rollers, and the machine assume that it picked up paper until it expects to see it at a certain sensor when it does not see at the expect sensor it indicates a paper jam when it mite be that the paper was never picked up, switch paper tray does it work then if so clean the rollers or have them replaced by a tech. or that sensor mite be bad, also indicating a jam when there is not one.
First what model? Second miss feed and jam are different, miss feed the roller can grab the paper, replace the roller putting a rubber sleave is going to mess with the feed system. Clean the rollers with alcohol
Hi Jamieos, Turn the printer off and on.Solved? Turn the printer off and disconnect from PC.Unplug from power.Reboot the PC. Remove the papers from the feed tray and look through the paper path for any obstructions. Load the print papers and make sure they are correctly aligned on the feed tray. Cear any print queues on your PC. Connect everything now and start the PC. Try printing.
As a test, please try to print something using paper in the manual feed bin.
If that works, remove the tray, take all the paper out, verify the springs on the tray are working again then reinsert the paper and tray and try again.
If your Dell 1700 laser printer is not pulling paper all the way, try cleaning the pick up rollers.
To access the pick up rollers. Turn off the printer. Unplug everything from the back of the printer. Take out the toner/drum and set this aside out of the light (the drum is effected by light). Remove the paper tray. Set the printer on its backside. The rollers are located on the underside of the printer where you just removed the paper tray. You may have to move a blue flap to get at the rollers. Take a damp paper towel and clean these off. Another possible solution is to take the grey rollers off and turn them inside out and then place them back on the printer.
The pick up rollers should not be shiney, or cracked and dryed out. If they are, they will not pick up the paper to feed it into the printer. The tires should have "traction" to them so that they can grip the paper and feed it into the printer.
Once you have the tires cleaned off or turned inside out and placed back on reassemble the printer and try printing.
check tthe clips retaining teh feed rollers havent sliped off if it isnt picking up from tray take the tray at top out and then watch from above to see if the rollers are turning to feed paper.. if the lifts out check the side door guide isnt out of plavce check the end paper guides as well//check when you take the tray out look to see there is any paper stuck at the back where the tray sensors ares can cause a lift motor error aswell
That is the problem, machine will show printer jam if paper feed rollers fail to pick up paper when requested, your machine sounds like it needs new paper feed roller or you can clean the paper feed roller with a slightly! damp cloth.
If no jam light shows when power is turn on and machine comes to ready and then you send a job to printer and it then shows jam then it is the feed roller or sometimes the feed clutch
If on the other hand it always show jam then there is or a switch is stuck.
Its probably not picking up paper from that tray, thus the jam error. For me that is typically because the tray isn?t pushing the paper up high enough to be caught by the pickup roller or the pickup rubber band is worn.
