Sony 36XBR450 power button and I can hear initail power up but no picture, no sound, only 'stand-by' light blinking. Is something loose that I can fix or do I need to get a loan?
our Sony KV-36XBR450, purchased in Feb 2002, just turned itself off tonite and began flashing the red stand-by lite 7 times when powered off and 4 times when powered on... no pictures, no sound but I can hear it try to power up... should I open it up and give it a try, call an expert and prepare to spend some money or drive to Walmart and pick up a new 36 inch set for $400?? Most probably,the secondary power output of your TV's switching power supply is not functioning.You have to trouble shoot the secondary power which also leads to HT supply in the Horizontal circuitry.

the main strike relay is turning on the power board but the tube relay is detecting a fault when it trys to ingage the unit needs to be fixed by a lic pro there is no easy fix to this fault

if its Sony TV, you will see stand-by light blinking while tv try to power up. let me know how many time this light blinks.
You will not be able to service this at home. Most of the time there are failures in the scan amplifiers and or the power supply that cause the fault you are describing.
