common with this model you need to remove the ball, and fit a lager screw into the black lever that locks the wheels in the upright postion. or you can take it to your local vac repair shop for him to do it. we charge 29 for the bleach wash service. you dont need any parts and he will fit the new bigger screw into place when hes servicing it
There are four retaining screws that hold the brush guard in place. Remove those screws and the guard comes right off the unit. After removing you will see the drive belt.Once you have taken off the old belt just give the new belt enough slack to get it onto the axle ( you'll probably need a flat head screw driver. However it shouldn't be that tight of a fit. Simle fix.
As for the height adjuster that is a common problem with those model vacuums. They just seem so break. I have an older unit myself, the piece you are referring to will continue to come apart or break no matter how many times its fixed.
That spring connects to a slot beside the height adjuster knob and a hole in the base to the wheels that fell off.The problem is you can't get the wheels to go back in flush so the height adjustment works.The vacuum will not be close enough to the floor to get any type up suction or brush contact.To change that spring as well as the belt,remove the cover by taking out two screws,one on each side.Force the rller out by prying the right end out of the slot.
There is a push in type flat plastic switch trim cover over the metal housing surrounding the switch.. You must unplug the cord, gently pry around the trim cover and you will find a screw, an irregular one underneath holding the switch in place. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN when reinstalling this one or you will crack the switch.
Once removed the rear housing will come off. Then you will see several new philips round head screws holding the front housing onto the vac.With all screws removed the housing should open easily but there may be dirty film inside holding the halves together. The fan shaft will unscrew revealing the fan, a spacer behind and perhaps two different spacer washers. Install the new fan hand tight, washers and spacers in same order... Good effort figuring this one out. Please post back with results.
Well it's actually not so bad once you realize where they hid the screws. Gently pull outwards on either side of the housing that surrounds the brush and vacuum.There are no screws for this piece it simply snaps off and on. Once this piece is removed you'll see two phillips type screws on the side where the removable hose attaches. Remove the two screws and pull off the molded section they keep in place. The brush will now come off revealing the rotor that the belts slips over. The belt is placed over the rotor and the brush cylinder in a figure eight. Reassemble and you're ready to go. Now if Shark will only help customer locate a replacement belt you may find this info useful...
Take the bag asm. and handle off. Then remove the plastic strip covering the switch, remove the screw there, remove the 3 screws on the housing, turn it over and loosen the screw near the back, the housing should come off. Then remove the screws on the back of the fan casing. You shouild be able to get to the fan, hold the fan and turn the spindle to the right to take off. If it would turn off, then you may have to lock the armature so it can't turn to move it. Then re-asemble in reverse.
Take off the bottom plate (where you would access the belt). Put the wheel back on, put the screw back in the wheel and looking from the underside of the vacuum you can see the screw. You need a bolt and preferably a lock washer and that should hold it for you.
from the underside:
1. remove 4 screws holding agitator cover in place
2. remove 2 screws (black screws) holding hose retainer in place, pull hose out through top
3. remove three screws, 2 long, 1 short holding top cover: short screw is at center of inside of brush housing, long screws are inboard of wheel axles, and slightly forward (all of these screws are aluminum colored)
4. from inside surface of each side, at approx the center, locate and push down on ledge inside right and left inside with a screwdriver to slightly displace the plastic ledge that holds the cover on; this ledge-lock-detent can be released with your fingers. You'll have to support the drive mechanism to allow the top housing to drop free.
5. remove housing, turn vacuum over, then go find the torx driver you need to disconnect the cable.
