Simply click on My Computer and see if the DVD is being read...if so double click on it.

You can navigate to My Computer (Right click on it) / Properties / Hardware / Device manager / DVD drives / Right click on DVD drive listed / Properties / Region and make sure its the correct region.

NB = You only get one go at altering so only do it once or not at all. (If you try it more than once it will be rendered useless)

Also try clicking on My Computer / Right click on DVD drive letter / Autoplay / drop blind and select "mixed content"

I put in the cd to install this program and I only see files and scripts nothing comes up and allows me to install the actual program. I tried it on my pc and it worked but I didn't install it into...

Sounds like you have a Windows exclusive CD. It will not work on Mac OS.
If you have a windows install disk, you can install Windows on your Macbook Pro using Boot Camp via the Boot Camp Assistant located in Applications/Utilities. This will require you to restart and select one desired system to boot up in order to use OS X or Windows.

Alternatively you could run Windows and Mac OS simultaneously with a program such as parallels.

Trying to load packard bell ,its formated hard drive ,next screen i have c:\ what do i put to continue

The system is trying to boot from the C drive i,e, the HDD, you need to continue after formatting from the CD/DVD.

Presumable it initially booted from the disk and you went through the procedure wizard of telling the computer to install a fresh copy of the operating system deleting any existing operating systems, and you didn't ask it to partition the disk and retain the OS that was originally on the HDD.

After formatting it should continue to install the OS on the drive you specified from the CD/DVD disk.

Start again you have nothing to lose as the HDD is now formatted and all previous information is lost, but this time read the screens that come up carefully.

One final point you did put the disk in then power up the computer didn't you????? not put the disk in and try and re install.

The computer has to be booted from the disk.

I have a Panasonic CF-72 Hdd crashed, just plugged in new Toshiba Hdd. How do I install Windows 2000. Have new CD disks

PREPARE HARD DRIVE
1. You would need to prepare the drive for installation of Windows (seeing that it is brand new)

2. It should have come with a CD, put the CD in the drive boot up and follow the process

If u tell me the Model of the Toshiba HD I can find instructions for preparing the drive for you.

INSTALL WINDOWS
- Once the Drive is prepared (meaning u have created a logical partition) THEN

- Put the Windows CD in the drive, boot the PC and follow the instructions:

Here's a Great Resource to help u with the installation: LabMice

ALSO
BootDisks (this should come in handy one day)

My friend of mine downloaded some pictures onto a cd for me. I put it in my computer and nothing is coming up. How do i view these pictures on my acer desktop computer?

If a window doesn't automatically open when you insert the cd you can click on the "My Computer" icon on your desktop then click on your cd drive. If you still don't see anything it is possible that there is nothing on the cd. If you right click on your cd drive icon and click properties it will tell you if how much used space is on the cd. If all the space is free space then the cd is still blank.
