King Kutter II Gear Driven Rotary Tiller 6ft Tiller Width, Model No. Tg - 72 - Y Logo
Posted on Mar 10, 2010

I just got a 5' KK rotary tiller and the pto shaft fits onto the tractor just fine with the button lock. The other end doesn't want to slide all the way onto the tiller gearbox drive shaft. It only goes half way and is unable to slide completely on. Is there supposed to be a push button lock on that side of the pto shaft as well? There is just a bolt. Is the bolt the source of the poroblem? Thanks!

http://www.everythingattachments.com/Tractor-3-Point-Hitch-Tillers-Rotary-Tillers-s/76.htm

go to the second site first, it will explain your "problem.". Your problem is you need to adjust the length of the pto shaft to your particular application. not all pto shafts fit all attachments "out of the chute"
once the shaft is adjusted OR prio to modifying it, view the first video. both or very well presented. i've been there!
Happy tilling!!

King Kutter 6ft tiller. It hit a metal fence post. The tiller will not turn, bogs down tractor. Where do I start?

You checked for a piece of post or rock stuck in the tines?

You should be able to turn the PTO shaft by hand. Suggest you disconnect the PTO shaft from the tractor and make sure the problem is the tiller.

The tiller end of the pto shaft has both a slip clutch and a shear pin to protect the gear box and tine shaft drive gear. See attachment.

If you are unable to turn the PTO shaft by hand with it disconnected from the tractor then likely there is something jambed in the tines or internal damage to the gear box or tine shaft gear drive.

How do you change blades on 5ft bush hog?

lift The brush hog up and place on blocks or other foundation that wont fall over. disconnect the power take off shaft from the tractor. Now look for two round openings in the middle of the deck one on ether side of the gear box (the thing on the brush hog that the pto shaft from the tractor hooks up to to make it spin there might be a slip clutch on the shaft but go to the box in the middle) Now turn the shaft till you see the blade nuts in the hole These could be castle nuts with a small carter pin locking them so they don't unscrew. Remove the pin and with a large socket set unscrew it from the bolt then knock the press fit bolt down and the blade will come off, do the same to the other blade if you need them both off. To put them back on use something under the blade and bolt to hold it up so you can start the nut then reverse the order and put everything back on. The blade bolt might be stubborn to get out just take something that fits through the access hole like a wood doll or long punch and drive the bolt down till it comes out as it is press fit and is jammed up to keep the bolt from turning, when putting it back on you will need to make it tight so the bolt can repress back in. Be Careful when reaching under to set the blade and bolt back in. There is not much you can mess up it is just a big nut and bolt Just make sure you put the blade on the way it came off if you do one blade or one at a time you can look at the other to see which way it goes.

John deere 2210 engine dies when engaging pto, seat switch good

are you sitting in the seat or have you jumped the safety switch under the seat before you engage the PTO I believe our tractors use an electric solenoid to apply hydraulic pressure to a wet clutch inside the trans axle I would think it would be OK with your chipper I have a 450 tiller that was built for the older 400 models 425 445 455 that I now use with my 2210 If I hit a large root or stone when using it with my old 445 it would stall the tractor at full power. Now with the 2210 it will actually slip the clutch on the tiller s PTO shaft I think the correct approach would be to increase your RPM s gradually or start increasing the power just as you trip the PTO switch. You want enough RPM s to create enough hydraulic pressure to run the PTO circuit so that you don t slip the wet clutch anymore than necessary and you want the RPM s low enough so that you don t shock the mechanical systems too severely at start up
Let me know how it works

I took apart my Dremel 395 Type 3 and the spring popped out for the shaft lock. Where does the spring attach to?

It doesn't attach anywhere, that's why it popped out. It should just fit in a recess, pushing the lock button outward.

Sounds as if you might have destroyed the gearbox or cooked the internal clutches or both....nothing to do but disassemble the gearbox to find out...you may have a broken gear tooth or teeth jamming the pinion...the FIX may be more expensive than the cost of a new tiller...call Tractor Supply to see if replacement parts are even available...sorry to be the bearer of such bad news... ;-(

Slip clutch shaft broke and I'm wondering what the maintenance is on the slip clutch i guess the clutch froze up and it broke the shaft from the universal joint to the 2nd part of the shaft

At least once a year back the clutch bolts out at least 3 turns and engage PTO at operating speed a couple times.Once thats done turn bolts back in the same amount of turns.By doing this you burnish the disc's and prevent them from rusting/seizing together with the plates.
