Why wont my dremel turn on??
1st ck to see that outlet has power on it by using a known good light (drop lights work great for this) next if tool is plugged into a foot pedal or speed control remove this and connect direct to outlet , activate switch on tool see if it runs
if not you most likely have a dammged brush on tool <this is very common i usually go thru two sets a year , brushes are available for dremels where ever dremel brand bits and tools are sold ck on back of package for your model number
if doing a lot of sanding or grinding allways make a habbit of blowing out air vents on tool body with a strong source of compressed air (canned air ok) this helps keep it going for years
Collet on my dremel is
I would hate to try to jam something into the fan, so I think it would be safer to split the case open and then put the armature in a vise. I am pretty sure you can still do that with this model.
Another alternative would be to use an air impact on the collet, since it works on inertia and does not need the shaft to be locked. Of course then you would need to be able to slip a socket over the collet hex part, and you may have to cut off a bit in order to do that.

It's heating up and tripping the internal overload. They do that to prevent the battery from overheating.
The cordless are nice but they have limited applications

The locking mechanism on the
Hello jeremy. Begin by getting a can of penetratin lubricant such as WD40 and applying it to the collet and the surrounding locking mechanism. Let it sit for an hour or over night so that the lubricant can penetrate.
Next use a hammer to tap on the hold button a few times. This step will remove any fine dust that may in it and preventing it from seating properly and doing it's job.
Finally, if it is still frozen, use a pair of locking pliers, like vise grips to firmly push in that hold button. Joe
