Take out the bag and keep the door open.
While the bag door is still open, turn the machine upside down so you are looking at the serial number.
Pull the cord out one foot.
Use a puddy knife and put it between the rubber side rails and the **** end of the machine.
Use a hammer or malett to hit the putty knife from the back of the rubber bumber toward the bag door.
Pull the rubber bumber stright out on both sides.
Once both bumpers are out pull the lower body of the canister from the **** end toward the intake of the machine.
Once the bottom is open you can then service the motor, cord winder, switch, and all other components.

CORD SPOOL WILL NOT PULL BACK

Try tilting the vacuum to about a 45 degree angle. Gently tug and release the cord a few times. This usually will release the cord. If not, the cord winder may have broken, or the spring came loose, and it needs replaced/repaired. Take it to the nearest Aerus Electrolux store for help/repair.

How do I repair my Electrolux Lux 9000 cannister electrical cord retraction? It was pulled out as far as it would go and now it doesn't retract.

First, try standing vacuum on it's back end. Gently pull on cord and release. Try this a few times.
If this doesn't work, you'll need to take it to an authorized Aerus Electrolux store and let the service tech repair it. Although it's relatively easy to disassemble, reassembling correctly is trickier. I've had several machines come into the shop disassembled because the owner couldn't figure out how to put it together again.
Also, when taking the cord rewinder apart, there's a risk of breaking tabs that hold it together.

I have a silverrodo and can't get the cord to fully rewind is there a way to fix this? thanks

It's probably a worn out spring. You'll probably need to take it in to the local Aerus Electrolux shop for replacement of the spring, and possibly the entire cordwinder. You can also call them and see if they're close enough for free pick up and delivery.

How do I open the canister of the Aerus Electrolux Lux Guardian? I need to replace the retractable cord mechanism. Aerus won't help me.

Hi there,

This will not be difficult to open, however, inside may scare you.

Remove your hepa filter cartridge (if you have one)
turn the machine over.
Undo the 6-8 screws there and pull the bottom off.
you should see everything there. If you are careful, just remove the old rewinder, and replace with the new one.

Good luck.

The chord will not recoil

Try standing it up and gently pull on cord and release. It may rewind after a few tries. If it does fine, then just be careful how far you pull it out.
If it still won't rewind, you need to take it to an authorized Aerus Electrolux store and have the service tech have a look. There are a few things in the rewind assembly that could be causing it not to.

Cord will not reel in

Try standing machine upright to rewind. If it doesn't, it should be taken to a shop, authorized Aerus Electrolux preferrably, and a trained service tech allowed to fix it. There may be a broken piece in the cordwinder that needs replaced and it's cheaper to let them fix it in the first place than to take it apart and not be able to put it together again.

Electrolux Lux 7000 retractable power cord

The trim pieces along the sides just pull off seperating the two housings. The back portion where the retract drum is is held by two plastic tangs on top inside. use a screwdriver to pry the ring down to dislodge the tangs. the bottom part will lift off. remove the front part using two screws just below the hinge. the retract has a long coil spring wound around a free spinning hub. there are two "tangs" inside that engage a ratchet-pawl assembly. you'll need to rotate the drum to rewind the spring onto its hub.
