My range expander worked great for about 4 months, then I lost connection with router. I reconfigured, and when I would move range expander to its original location it looses connection. Please help.

There must be something that has been introduced to your area that is causing distortion in your WiFi signal. 802.11 or WiFi is very susceptible to noise or signal distortion and can come from many things from interfering objects to other wireless signals such as Wireless phones. There are also many other things that can cause signal distortion I would look to see if you have added anything new around the time the unit lost signal. If your unit is working properly when you are closer to the router than this has to be the problem. Range is a big iffy factor when messing with WiFi.

Hi, I just got Linksys WRE54G V.3 and was trying to install the CD. But I keep getting "Site Survey fail" message. My house is using a router made by Apple, and does not have extra space to...

The range expander helps to extend the range of wireless network...
Anyhow the range expander has to be placed withing the range of your Apple "wireless" router (Make sure your apple router is wireless router, if it is a wired router, then there is no use of range expander...! U need to buy an Access Point instead)...
your range expander must be connected to the computer(using an ethernet cable) from which you are trying to configure...
Site survey searches for the available wireless networks in range...
It should show your existing wireless network...
You need to select your appropriate network and you need to configure the Range expander wireless settings according to the Apple router's wireless settings...
exactly the same SSID(Network name), Security type and encryption technique, password PSK (security key) has to be selected on your range expander as in the APPLE wireless router...
Thats it...
You are done...
Your wireless network range would have extended now....

Can't login 192.168.1.1 or 192.168.1.240 Above are the gateways of Linksys Range Expander WRE54G but can't login. Please advise.

Leave the router on. Press the reset button in on the back for 30 secs. Then unplug and press in again for 30secs. This will reset all settings to default and 192.168.1.1 will be the router IP. THe range expander needs to be reconfigured with the original disc. This can be found at www.linksys.com The expanders are offten tricky, mine kept changing the 3rd octet to 2. I.E 192.168.2.1 Might test that to see :)

Reset it and reconfigure it. You need to know the configuration of your wireless router to make your range expander work again. Can you still connect to the Internet without the range expander?

Linksys wireless G range expander

Hi David,

I need to know that what type of router u r using.

If it is Linksys router just follow these steps,

with the help of the Ethernet cable connect the range expander to any one of the 4 ports in the router...

ur computer shuld be directly hook up to the router..

open internet explorer in ur computer..in the address bar type in 192.168.1.240(ip address of the range expander)

it will prompt for a username and password...leave the user name blank and the password will be admin.

u can see the linksys range expander set up page...

u can find SSID at the bottom of the page...

ur router's SSID and the range expander's SSID should be same..and also the password should be same..

If the ssid or password mismatch between the router and range expander u can find these kind of Error messages...

Good Luck....try it and revert back
