Cleaning oven doors and no user manual

I have just bought a house with one of these in and i have no manual. How do I clean the inside of the door glass? I can see that the inside panel slides out but do I have to take the doors off? Also the front fascia panel has lost most of its markings - do they cost much to replace and would i need to get in an engineer or is it quite straightforward?
Thanks.

Open the doors 90 degrees to the oven front, then look just above the pivot point / hinge on the doors, there is a little plate with a screw (one above each door) - loosen the screw and slide the bracket towards the middle of the oven - you can then lift and take the doors off their pivot points - the inner glass will then slide up from the bottom and out for cleaning - once done put the glass back correctly, the bottom is marked so it is put back correctly - make sure you locate the doors back correctly top and bottom and then slide the plate back to prevent the door being able to lift out while in use and tighten the screw back up.

Hope this helps you all.

Just found this out while @ my Aunt & Uncles - the manual did not make it very clear at 1st.

I am looking for an electronic versionof the manual so I can print them a larger A3 copy as their eye sight is not what it used to be and they get lost while trying to read with a magnifying glass.

Testimonial: "Thank you very much for going to so much trouble. It makes so much difference having access to the user manual. Many thanks!"

Forgot to say - you will nead a star screwdriver to perform this.

I did find the plate a little hard to slide at first but DO NOT REMOVE THE SCREW as this will stop the plate from sliding - JUST LOOSEN IT.

Need manual for self cleaning, please?

Hello Mary;

You can get a user manual at the following website.

Locate your oven model number. It is located on a label either on the face of the oven when you open the door or on the side of the door. Put he model number into the website and you will get diagrams, component part numbers and manuals.

http://www.searspastsdirect.com/

I suspect the user manual is not going to help you. Tell me the model number and what is going on.

Manufacturers offer the self cleaning feature on ovens because customers like this feature and the ovens sell. Yet, the manufacturers engineers have not been able to provide a design that will protect all of the components from self cleaning temperature of 900-1,000 degree F.

When you go into the self cleaning model, the door will lock when you reach 500-550 Degree F. The oven temperature will raise to 900-1,000 degrees F. The oven door will not open until the oven temperature drops to 500 degree F after the self cleaning cycle is completed.

Now, You have a high temperature limit switch in your oven. If this switch fails, you will loose power to your control board and you will not be able to open the oven door.

If you have never used your self cleaning feature, the high temperature limit switch may have failed.

Do to the problems involved with the self cleaning feature, knocking out the control board from heat, additional heating element failure, and other components; It is in my professional recommendation as well as my fellow technicians not to use the self cleaning feature. If you do, do not run it for more than 1 hour instead for the manual 4 hours.

I have the S201X how do I clean this oven/ micro combination. Does it have a self clean option?

From page 59 of the user manual:

Instructions for the user:
11. CLEANING AND MAINTENANCE
The oven must be periodically cleaned to maintain its working characteristics unaltered. Inadequate cleaning could jeopardise its appearance and above all its functioning.
Before performing any operations requiring access to powered parts, switch off the power supply to the appliance.
Do not use a steam jet for cleaning the inside of the oven.
11.1 Cleaning stainless steel
To keep stainless steel in good condition it should be cleaned regularly after use. Let it cool first.
11.2 Ordinary Daily Cleaning
To clean and preserve the stainless steel surfaces, always use only specific products that do not contain abrasives or chlorine-based acids.
How to use: pour the product on a damp cloth and wipe the surface, rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth or deerskin.
11.3 Food stains or residues
Do not use metallic sponges or sharp scrapers: they will damage the surface.
Use normal non-abrasive products and a wooden or plastic tool if necessary. Rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth or deerskin.
Do not allow residues of sugary foods (such as jam) to set inside the oven. If left to set for too long, they might damage the enamel lining of the oven.

11.4 Cleaning the oven
For best oven upkeep clean regularly after having allowed to cool.
Take out all removable parts.
-Clean the oven grill and side guides with hot water and non-abrasive detergent. Rinse and dry.
-For easier cleaning, the door can be removed:
11.5 Removing the door
11.5.1 removing doors with mobile hinges
Lift the levers B until they touch the hinges A and take hold of the two sides of the doors with both hand close to the hinges. Raise the door to an angle of about 45 degrees and remove it.

To reassemble, fit the hinges A into their grooves, then lower the door into place and release the levers B.

How do I get the door open after self cleaning and what do I push to self cleaning

Hi, Some ovens are self cleaning During the cleaning process, the oven heats up to a temperature of 900 degrees Fahrenheit. The extreme heat cooks off food and spills inside the oven, leaving ash that can easily be wiped out. The oven door locks while it is cleaning to prevent the door from being opened. Self cleaning ovens are better insulated than regular ovens to keep the extreme heat inside.

Instructions

Read the owner's manual that came with your oven before you perform self cleaning. Although all self cleaning ovens work basically the same way, there may be slight variations for some manufacturers and models.

Take out the oven racks. You need to clean the oven racks by hand, and then put them back in when the oven is done cleaning.

Wipe up any spills and messes inside the oven first, using warm water and a mild soap. Ovens smoke more during cleaning when there is food inside. Wash the inside of the oven door as well. Do not scrub the door gaskets, just gently wipe them off. Damaging the gaskets prevents the oven from sealing.

Lock your oven door manually if your model does not lock it automatically when you clean.

Open a window near the oven for ventilation. There is a certain amount of smoke when you clean the oven. The dirtier the oven is, the more smoke is created.

Turn the control on your oven to "clean" and set the timer for 2 to 5 hours depending on how dirty your oven is, and what the manufacturer recommends.

Wait for the cleaning to finish and the oven to cool before opening door. When oven is fully cooled wipe up any ash inside. If your oven is not completely clean, next time set the timer for longer. If your oven is spotless you might want to see if you can get away with a shorter cleaning time.

Tips & Warnings

Because self cleaning ovens are better insulated, they are more energy efficient when used for cooking. However, if you run the self cleaning feature on your oven more than once a month, you offset the savings you realized. With light to moderate use your oven should be able to be cleaned every one to three months.

Save on the electricity used with a self cleaning oven by cleaning the oven right after use at a high temperature. For example, if you set your oven to clean after making French fries at 450 degrees, it takes less energy to get the oven up to the required 900 degrees.

If you have pet birds, take them out of the house before cleaning your oven. Over heated cooking surfaces, oils and fats, can create fumes that are harmful for a bird's delicate respiratory system.

Hope it helped.

I have a kenmore microhood 63684 turned lites on and can't get them to off, when fan button is pushed fan does not start but when lite button is pushed after fan is energized fan starts real slow and...

Hello,

What this simply mean is that there has been a problem from the fan either from the wire connection or from the Cole of the fan connected to the fan motor.

There are two ways of over coming this type of problem below are the recommendation to solve the problem

First of all set the oven on self cleaning from the below instruction or make use of your owner manual to operate the elf cleaning
Please after the self cleaning you most allow the oven to cool down to it best before opening

SOLUTION 2 IF THE ABOVE RECOMMENDATION DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM

Then you will have to replace the hole of the fan from the oven i.e the fan is need to be service

Hope this help?

Thank you and thank for using fixya.

I moved into this house and it has this model of gas stove and there is not a manual so i have no idea as to how i am to clean it or if it is self cleaning. Please help me before i need a chisel to clean...

If the interior is slick (and porcelain) it is either a self or manual cleaning oven (self cleaning has a latch that lock the door to prevent opening while in the clean mode so you will notice a slot at the top where the latch arm will come out and catch the door).

A self cleaning oven has a non glossy surface inside and this surface spreads the grease and boil over out so it will burn up in continuous use.

Cleaning my self-clean oven

Turn the oven to "clean" and lock the door if the oven has a manual door lock. The oven may have an automatic timer for the clean setting. If it doesn't then you'll have to turn it off yourself in three or four hours. Don't be surprised if the oven puts out a very foul smell while it's cleaning itself as that's normal for an oven that hasn't been cleaned in so long. After it's done, wait for the oven to cool and then wipe out the ash from the inside of the oven.
