Where can I get a HV transformer for Microwave?

I went on-line and found a site that gave answers to similar problems. I found that no power to the the control board usually meant a transformer issue. I checked the leads on the transformer (with a meeter) and found that it was shot. Now I need a replacement transformer, at a reasonable price, or else I will purchase a new Microwave.

Hi cschnur,
It seems that you might need to replace circuit board.
All the above mentioned conditions refers to a faulty circuit board. You might have blown few Ic's.
Take a voltmeter, check the continuity. If you are aware of the Ic's, replace them.
Unless, look for a tech, a used board ( On http;//www.ebay.com ) or purchase a new one.

My kenmore microwave runs for about 5 seconds and

F9 means the main board is going into either over current or low current mode and the probable cause is magnetron problems.
I would call an engineer to give you a repair price.

Microwave

Hi

3 things can fail - the control board, the inverter board, or the magnetron. If the microwave runs for about 7 seconds with a ticking sound..then stops and shows "F-9", it is the magnetron that has failed. The fact that the unit starts and runs with the TICKING SOUND means the control board is sending signal to inverter board and the inverter board is sending signal to magnetron. Magnetron is covered by full 5 year warranty, inverter board is only 3 years.

If this is not the case then it could be a defective control board, inverter or line voltage too high.

Please do rate the solution as "FixYa" if found useful and revert for further assistance.

Thanks

Kenmore microwave oven model # 721 63684300 built

I checked the owners manual and it does not list the fault codes. Manufactures leave this information out of the manual most of the time so you have to call them for service.

Call 1-800-4-my-home (sears) and tell them the problem. You will also need to provide the m# so have that ready when you call.

Good Luck

I have a kenmore microhood

Hello,

What this simply mean is that there has been a problem from the fan either from the wire connection or from the Cole of the fan connected to the fan motor.

There are two ways of over coming this type of problem below are the recommendation to solve the problem

First of all set the oven on self cleaning from the below instruction or make use of your owner manual to operate the elf cleaning
Please after the self cleaning you most allow the oven to cool down to it best before opening

Some ovens are self cleaning During the cleaning process, the oven heats up to a temperature of 900 degrees Fahrenheit. The extreme heat cooks off food and spills inside the oven, leaving ash that can easily be wiped out. The oven door locks while it is cleaning to prevent the door from being opened. Self cleaning ovens are better insulated than regular ovens to keep the extreme heat inside.

  1. Read the owner's manual that came with your oven before you perform self cleaning. Although all self cleaning ovens work basically the same way, there may be slight variations for some manufacturers and models.
  2. Take out the oven racks. You need to clean the oven racks by hand, and then put them back in when the oven is done cleaning.
  3. Wipe up any spills and messes inside the oven first, using warm water and a mild soap. Ovens smoke more during cleaning when there is food inside. Wash the inside of the oven door as well. Do not scrub the door gaskets, just gently wipe them off. Damaging the gaskets prevents the oven from sealing.
  4. Lock your oven door manually if your model does not lock it automatically when you clean.
  5. Open a window near the oven for ventilation. There is a certain amount of smoke when you clean the oven. The dirtier the oven is, the more smoke is created.
  6. Turn the control on your oven to "clean" and set the timer for 2 to 5 hours depending on how dirty your oven is, and what the manufacturer recommends.
  7. Wait for the cleaning to finish and the oven to cool before opening door. When oven is fully cooled wipe up any ash inside. If your oven is not completely clean, next time set the timer for longer. If your oven is spotless you might want to see if you can get away with a shorter cleaning time.

SOLUTION 2 IF THE ABOVE RECOMMENDATION DID NOT SOLVE THE PROBLEM

Then you will have to replace the hole of the fan from the oven i.e the fan is need to be service

Hope this help?

Thank you and thank for using fixya.

Smell like burning rubber coming

Possible that the fittings along the magnetron had come to some dampness that has resulted in the heating of the mountings that causes the burning of the mounting gaskets.
If will be best to remove the magnetron and refit it after cleaning it dry and making sure there are no food particles lodged inside that can cause this out of turn heating to happen.
please check also on the main capacitors and the power supply for any heating.
Cleaning the entire unit after swittching off power , cleaning the PCB and the contact leads must solve the issue. If there are any loose joints tighten them.

It appears your magneto or power supply has failed in this instance.

For replacement parts - head on over to PartSelect.com or RepairClinic.com and enter in your full model number for a full parts listing.
I recommend both sites because ...

FixYa has no affiliation with either site - I have been using and recommending them for years - trouble free.

PartSelect has a great schematic database for locating the part on your unit and great "testimonials" for each part that often times includes HOW-TO information.
RepairClinic has pictures of each part they sell and also a great how-to and troubleshooting for basic repairs.

If your unit has never been serviced - there should still be an original service manual enclosed in plastic taped to the inside of the shell.
In the service manual are Error codes, maintenance procedures, and troubleshooting steps you can follow.

Anything too complicated or beyond your scope should be handled by a professional.

If you think you want to tackle the repair - and have gotten stuck on a step - reply to your question and I will be glad to help you out.
