My vizio 42 inch plasma has no picture but does have sound. purchased in November 2006, have had no problems until yesterday, the TV was on and suddenly the picture went out. I have unplugged it, disconnected the cable, anything that could have been the problem. Let it sit overnight, turned it on this morning and still no picture.

With all the listed sets,itis most likely the y-drive(sus) board.The only problem is that this board usually fails when the horz.buffer ic's fail,which is usually part of the plasma display.This was a semi-common problem with this set.The best bet is to find a new set,since the parts alone will exceed the cost of a new one.Pioneer or nec seem to be the most reliable that i have seen.

Just had the same problem and determined it was the primary power supply board. The TV has a primary and secondary power supply. The secondary controls the on/off and audio. The primary controls the picture. If this is shot, you will not get a picture but will hear audio. I had to call Vizio and have them send me a new power supply board ($150 + SH). Not too hard to install yourself. Hpe this helps!

The main board of your TV is bad. I have seen a lot of TVs have the same problem.

check the backlight inverter and the Y-sus board the one to your left. if those are fine check the bottom right buffer board
