This fridge in unheated garage. Fridge is ok, but freezer won't get cold enough to freeze. It was ok until cold weather, so I guess it is that. But what can I do to correct? Would blanket wrapping work? Or is there something better?
That is normal since the cold control is on the refrigerator side and is satisfied. It needs to be in a heated environment and not in an unheated garage.
The *only* way to overcome your problem is to heat the garage. Sorry but there is no other "cure" to running a refrigerator in an unheated cold room. A chest or upright freezer will stay frozen, but a refrigerator will not keep the freezer compartment to freezing in your unheated garage. If it did run to keep the freezer section cold, it will also freeze in the fresh food section. Sure, you could wrap it with a heated blanket or something and use up electricity, but it might prove to be impractical and a fire hazard unless it too was controlled by a thermostat. I do not recommend doing that. I'm sorry but it is just the way a refrigerator operates.

Thank you for your comment. But this is an extra fridge for overflow, and I am looking for a way to overcome the problem while keeping it in the garage.
I did receive a few replies. So we are all set with our problem. Just to let eveyone know....on a warm day, we unplugged the fridge and let the coils defrost + dry. We plugged it back in and wrapped back and sides with heavy insulated blanket. Works like a charm.
did u notice u didn't get any other experts answer on this? well give out a one hand rating like this and u assure no more help.
