GE range JBP72

For a year this range has popped the circuit it is on when you try to use a burner and the oven. Stupidly we just kept resetting the CB. Now, slightly more than a year old it has decided to stop working altoghether. What a piece of junk! I suppose we'll pay top dollar for someone to come out here and fix it. Any suggestions?

You would need to be a bit more specific as to what the problem is is the cooker gas or electric or both? if it is electric and its tripping the CB then the appliance is shorting out somehwere along the line, most comman cause is an element or if its gas the the ignition loop may need replacing

i would suggest getting an engineer to look at the applince it sounds to me like either the burner is faulty or the element is,

Stupidly caused oven to short out and blow breaker and after resetting breaker, nothing works at all.

Tracey recheck that the breaker is reset properly, you may have blown the digital display/control board. In which case a tech. will have to diagnose and repair.

Ge xl44 oven not igniting but burners ignite

The most common failure for a nobake on this type of oven is the bake ignitor. turn unit on and look at the bottom of the oven, you should after about 30-45 seconds see an ORANGE glow, if you do not, chances are you have a failed ignitor.Remove lower part of oven and if you have a meter, place one lead on each terminal and check for continuity( a closed circuit)
If you have an "open" circuit, the ignitor is bad

Replacing oven burner element, the lower element, for a GE stove

(I think it is 50 watts or volts??)
Most electric ranges are supplied with 220 volts - this is, especially at 60 Hz, deadly. You were lucky this time.
If the wires are not welded onto the element contacts, they might be so-called 'quick-disconnects' that pull straight off of blades that are part of the elelment.
You probably haven't hurt the range with the momentary short circuit since the chassis of the range is connected to neutral or ground so you just gave your breaker a workout. BTW, I have had to replace late breakers after they tripped. They wouldn't stay reset any more even after the problem was removed from the circuit. Don't be surprised if yours doesn't stay reset; it may not be a fault causing it.
