Put new memory card in camera but has formatting problem. When memory card is put in it says the new memory card requires formatting. When I continue it states that formatting will delete everything in memory card. Chose continue again since it is a new memory card. It then tries to format. Date and time have been reset. But it goes back to the same problem of asking to have the memory card formatted. What do I do now?

Why does new card say it needs formating

This is not unusual. There are many different formats that could be put on your SanDisk, but you must be sure to put the correct one that is compatible with your camera. Consult your Kodak manual or phone a Kodak agency. Common formats are FAT16, FAT32, NTFS, EXT3, but there are many others. A lot of cameras that I have used use FAT32. If the SanDisk has the wrong format for your camera or a corrupt format, you will get this error message.
Most cameras can do the formatting required for the SanDisk, Again check manual or Agency for HOW TO. If the camera cant, you can format it on a PC, a Tablet, or a Laptop provided you know what format your camera requires. It is not difficult. Good Luck.

Just purchased new Toshiba SDHC 8 GB memory card to use in Kodak Easy Share C743 digital camera. Put disk in camera prompt says "Memory Card requires formatting"...press continue, and go to formatting and...

No. Can you get into the camera menu when you turn the camera on? If so, go to "format" by way of the menu rather than clicking on continue. Also, be sure the slide switch on the side of the card is in the unlocked position.

After inserting the new SanDisk, SDHC Card, 8GB the camera prompts "Memory card requires formatting", press continue; warms that formatting will delete everything on memory card; pres continue;...

First thing; check owner's manual and USA distributor, make absolutely sure that this camera is able to read/write to a 8GB card!
If so, put that card into your computer, directly into appropriate slot or through a "reader" and the USB port. If computer runs Windows, access My Computer, click on external memory device, and RIGHT CLICK. You will get a box which offers to format the card. You can rename the card at the same time. The computer's format routine is stronger that the one in the camera. If problem still happens, consult distributor. May be fixable with a cable from camera to USB port, you download new software from distributor. Follow their instructions EXACTLY.

Will not format Memory Card for Use.

Hello my friend.

Try this tool which you can download clicking here.

It can solve your formatting problem.

- Download the file.
- Plug your memory card into your PC.
- Run the "exe" file that you downloaded.
- On the program menu select your device (memory card).
- Select FAT32 as file system.
- You may give a valid volume label.
- Uncheck the "Quick Format" option.
- Then start formatting your memory card clicking the start button.

This formatting will delete all the files in your memory card.

My camera wont format card

The card needs to be formatted in the camera, not on the computer. Try going into the camera menu and find "reset"...follow the on-screen instructions.

Was OK, but now memory card requires formatting? Kodak Easy Share C-530. I tried several times to put in new memory card, but it always says it needs reformatting and when i try "continue" it then goes to:...

She is not arguing with the camera. Sheesh. When she says she hits "continue" she is talking about continue for the camera to format the card. But instead of formating the card it says filesystem error e00100. The camera will NOT format the card. I have the same problem. I can format the card on the computer, but again the camera says it can not read the card and needs to format. You choose to format, and it says filesystem error e00100. My card is brand new. So I used cards I have owned for while and used in other cameras. Same thing happens. I tried 4 different cards. A 4gb SDHC, thought that format was not compatible so switched to a regular SD 2gb. Same thing happened. Also tried Standard SD 16mb & 128 mb. All do the same thing.

Memory card requires formatting- I select continue then it says "formatting will delete everything on memory card-I select "continue" then it reads "formatting" and repeates itself

1. Make sure your SD card is not locked so the camera can format the card. If the camera still cannot format the card, try to format the card with a computer. If this doesn' t work, the card may be defective.

If the computer can format the card, the put the card back in the camera and then the camera should be able to format the card. The camera MUST format the card before the camera can save to the card.

Formatting a HP 4GB Memory card

The best thing that you can do is to try to format the card from a laptop with a built in card port or use a card reader and format it on your computer.

My Kodak EasyShare C315 needs formatting.

For all the camera users whose cameras won't format...they can't accept all the info on a 2 gb memory card... install a 1 gb card...worked like a charm for me! C315 and others were made before the 2 gb card. Only 1 gb cards work in the older cameras.

Memory card

  • Insert your memory card into your computer's reader if you have one. If not, you can purchase a multi-format USB Memory Card reader from Amazon.com or Buy.com
  • 2 Open up 'My Computer'. You should see it under the list of available drives.
  • 3 Check its contents first to make sure that you have the right drive.
  • 4 In 'My Computer', right-click on the drive and choose 'Format'.
  • 5 Leave all the options as they are and click on 'Start'. This is a non-reversible process so make sure this is what you truly wanted to do in the first place.
  • 6 Once the process is completed, take the memory card out and insert it into your Digital Camera or any other device. Try to browse to it to make sure it works fine now.
