25 farad cap slowly losing its charg if the car sits for to long
I have a 25 farad hybrid cap and if i dont run mi car for a weak or so the cap drains mi battery and loses all power, will it ormaly slowly lose power?
Re: 25 farad cap slowly losing its charg if the car sits...
Cap is hooked up wrong, should shut off after a certain amount of time and reactivate with the ignition hot wire. If it's draining your battery continuously then you should look at the wiring.

This problem may be a drain or a bad battery or alternator.
The first thing to do before going on trying to find the system that is draining the battery would be to have the battery tested and charging system tested.
A weak battery will seem ok after the car is jumped or will barely start the car and the alternator will charge it even though the alternator is overworking due to weak battery and during the day or when car does not sit long it will seem ok. then when car sits overnight or a few days battery will weaken on its own, making it look like a drain,
so first step is battery test and alternator/charging system test.
get a small led or something that runs on 12 volts. i use my 5 dollar 12v test light and hold it to the positive cable thats gonna be hooked to my cap. hook the other side to the cap, it will light up the test light and in a minute or two the light dims and then goes out, after its out , the cap is charged......JUST DONT LET IT TOUCH THE OPPOSITE WIRE WHEN YOU HOOK IT UP OR YOU DISCHARGE IT and its not funny
Put the capactior in parallel with your battery right before the amplifier. So Postive lead of cap to your 12 Volt line and negative lead goes to ground. It is also suggested that you charge the cap before placing it directly in parallel with the 12 volt rail. yo ucan do this by using a 1000 ohm resistor with a power rating of 1 watt. Disconnect your amplifiers so it is just your cap and battery. Replace the fuse with the 1000 ohm resistor. Once the resistor is in place hook up your cap. It will take a little bit for it to charge. RC time constant is T = Reistance X Capacitance. So 1000 ohms X .5 Farads = is about 8 minutes, or you can just measure the voltage with an volt meter and when the cap reads 12VDC you can then hook it up. BE CAREFUL NOT TO SHORT TERMINALS. THIS CAPACITOR I STORING A LOT OF CHARGE.
With BIG wires from battery to cap and then to your amp.
Good idea to put fuse or fusible link between bat + and the cap. Protects against fires.
If one wanted to be safe from starter motor transients I would gate the + power lead with a power relay between the battery and the cap. This relay should close when you are in run or accessory position of your key switch. I recommend this as there are so MANY dead car audio amps. Just search for them on here! A bunch of them MIGHT be caused by inductive transients during starter motor shutdown. Note the inductance is in the grounding wire from teh battery to the engine/chassis.
simple issue means your alternator is not able to supply enough amps to keep the system running properly, recommendation get a capacitor to handle the extra load, it acts like a second battery, when the alternator charges the cap it takes the load off the cap rather then the battery, so the lights and system all run with sufficient power i recommend a 1 to 2 farad capacitor for your system if it is about 800+ watts, you will notice the difference immediately
Yes you certainly wire the 12v+ wire directly to the positive post of the stiffening Capacitor, however if you have a one of those test light probes to check for current on a car? They are really cheap but what i do is clamp the one end on to the battery and than touch the probe to the + teriminal of your capacitor, when the light goes out your cap is fully charged. Now if the light does not go all the way out or stays on you have a bad capacitor, and might i ask why the hell are you driving to need a 35 Farad Capacitor anyway?? Damn.. We do show and competition cars here and sometimes use them. I like the BatCap way better, it's a Battery and a Capacitor all in one. Way strong like bull..... good luck... Mark
a burned disk u will need newer samsung unitto rea dthem all older units dont read well burned dvds ok upgarde to latest players so it can read it right
