Intel Pentium II Processor Upgrade

No, this highest the P-II went to was either 400 or 450 Mhz. Upgrading a thinkpad CPU may be difficult. Considering prices on used laptops now, I wouldn't think it would be worthwhile, either.

Upgrade the processor.

More important is the question of what processors can your motherboard handle. Certain motherboards accept certain sockets and speeds of processor, so you can choose from that to decide what you want to upgrade it with.

See page 8 of this manual. Your compuer has a Socket 370 processor, an Intel Pentium II. You can upgrade it with another one of those. Here's the manual listing the specs of the processor the motherboard can take:

Yikes, a Pentium II?? Unfortunately it will definately be more economical to just replace the whole motherboard, or the whole computer! This motherboard will only support a range of P2 processors, an upgrade will cost several hundred dollars, close to the price of a brand new computer with a P4 in it.
