Hi, If I was being called out to look at your range and you described to me what you said in your post, I would definetly bring an element. I suugest you tell that to your service person or purchase a new element. That is quite often the way the element's burn out, just as you described...a sparkler. Hope that help's. Good luck and thank's for visiting fixya. Macmarkus :)

Gallery series Frigidaire gas oven not heating up correctly

Hello Hilda, thank you for your post!
There could be a number of
any one of several underlying causes in why the oven is experiencing this
particular issue:
·Convection
heating element
·Thermal cutout
·Thermal oven
sensor
·EOC
(electronic oven control)
·Ignitor,
·Bake or broil
element
·All wired
connections
·Lastly the oven cavity and insulation should be checked to ensure there are no gaps or damages that will leak out the heat.

The parts above will need to be assessed for further evaluation by a technician since it is always a good idea to get the appropriate diagnosis prior to making any unnecessary part replacements.

Oven won't heat.

Good Afternoon Gwen - Try reprogramming the range by unplugging it or flipping the household circuit breaker off. Wait approximately ten minutes and turn the unit back on. If issue persists, then the unit could possibly be experiencing an issue with a wiring failure, EOC (electronic oven control), sensor probe and/or faulty bake or broil element. I would strongly recommend consulting a professional to narrow down the precise issue before investing in parts that may or may not be the root cause.

Heating element stays on when turned off

The thermostat (that is the dial that you turn to energize the heating elements) is the only thing that connects power to and disconnects power from the heating element. It is bad.

You can unplug the unit and remove the thermostat. Take it to a parts supplier and get a new one and install it. Your problem will go away.

Top element wont heat wen oven is on bake

The top element normally operates only when you turn the temperature control all the up to the broil setting as it is the broiling element. If it doesn't work at the broil setting, suspect a bad brioler element or a faulty temperature control.

Frigidaire Gallery stove, oven won't heat up (electric)

With the oven OFF, check the resistance of the bake element with a ohmmeter on the lowest scale. Rx1. If your reading is infinate, replace the element as most elements will open circuit when they burn out. They don't short out.
