Re-installing Canon MP160 on an HP Pavilion

Do you have more than one instance of the printer installed. If that happens the computer gets confused and don't know which one to print to. Also only one can be active if you have two instances of the same printer and you could be printing to the inactive one. Click Start/Control Panel and check your printers to insure that there is not more than one instance of the same printer installed.

Also check down at the bottom right near the time and if you see the printer icon open it and clear out the queue. If you've printed to an inactive printer the queue will block you so just delete or cancel the items in the queue.

Also check your printer properties to make sure it is printing to a TCPIP wireless connection and not a usb connection.

Since you don;t have the setup disc for this printer the only way you can install it is by downloading the printer driver/software from this link and then use that for installation of the printer to your computer, just click HERE and [proceed with the download.

Your hard drive. The scanner uses space on your hard drive. Do a clean disk and remove any files that you don't need. YOu probably need at least 100 mb free for the scanner

If you do not have the software, you need to download the software from one of the following locations:

Official Canon Drivers and Software

Canon USA:DRIVER & DOWNLOADS

After downloading is finished, unplug the printer USB and run the software that you downloaded.
The software installer will tell you when to connect USB.

First step I would try is; unplug printer usb cable, then power down printer, reconnect usb cable to printer, power printer back on. If all this fails then lets try one other possible fix. Go to start select RUN & type services.msc, ok now you should have a services window that popped up. On the right hand side locate "Printer Spool" and right click on it, then select "Restart". this should refresh your printer spool. Hope this was helpful.
