are your search provides enabled from the last comment to you? If so then CALL your internet provider, or restore your computer to an earlier KNOWN TO BE WORKING date from the system tools menu RESTORE command

If you still cant get search engines, can you get online at all? Perhaps delete and reinstall IE be sure you dont change your security settings! until you get your search engines working. Lastly is your firewall ALLOWING you to conduct searches? turn if off a few mins. and try again

How to stop BING from being the default search engine in IE8.

Microsoft has made it prgressively harder to install Google as the default search engine in a concerted effort to force the use of BING on IE8. Once only a single step, setting Google as the default search engine now can take as many as eight steps which is why I personally use Firefox or Chrome. If you're one of the few whose workplace still forces them to use IE, here's how to at least remove BING from being the default search, every time IE8 is opened.
  1. Open Internet Explorer
  2. Click on the triangle next to the magnifying glass located to the right of the search bar.
  3. Select Find more providers
  4. Select Google; often they hide it on the second page, but it's still there.
  5. Click on the triangle next to the magnifying glass located to the right of the search bar.
  6. Now select manage search providers
  7. Click Google and then select, "Set as Default".
  8. Click on the two BINg links and remove them both.

How can you keep bird food from coming out of the cage

Hello, Brenda -

There are products named "seed catchers" and "seed guards" which one can purchase or mak. oneself

Just use your favorite search engine (Bing, Google, Yahoo Search, etc.) and enter these search phrases (separately), using quotation marks as shown:
"seed catcher"
"seed guard"

They do not keep seeds from coming out of a bird cage. Instead, they are designed to catch much of the debris from a bird cage. making clean up less messy.

Best wishes.

How to delete genieo

If you value your privacy, and the stability of your computer, then don't follow any suggestions that include using the genieo adware uninstaller : it leaves active software behind.

The company know this, but seem unable or unwilling to resolve it.

Instead, try to carefully follow the instructions at

No icons on my computer toshiba

This could be caused by many things. The most common is a virus. Click on the start button (Windows flag in the lower left of your screen if using Windows 7), click on Run (Windows XP) or enter the following in search box. "iexplore" Without the quotes. This should bring up internet explorer. Use your favorite search engine (Google, Bing, Yahoo, etc) and find TDSSKiller and run it. This will scan your computer for rootkit viruses. Rootkit viruses hide over viruses so you also need to use your search engine to locate, download and run Malwarebytes (run a full scan). Finally use your search engine to find a small program called unhide and run it. This should take care of your problem if it is caused by a virus.

If it doen't work, download this utility "HijackThis" run and delete the IE start page, and perform the above again.

Hope it helps.

Your proxy may have been altered due to a virus or malware.
Scan for both, i use malwarebytes for my malware scanner.
Check your proxy settings, control panel / internet options / connections / lan settings / i do not use a proxy, so for me this is unticked, if you use a proxy, make sure it has not been changed .
