A blinking power light on the Samsung 225BW usually indicates a failure in the power supply board. There are parts called capacitors that start to fail and this causes the power supply to keep restarting trying to stabilize the output voltages. If you can do a little soldering then you should be able to repair the unit yourself. Here is a link to a repair guide for the 225BW with pictures and a video showing how to dis-assemble the unit and repair the power supply board.

There is also a parts list of the capacitors you need to get for the repair.

I hope this helps, if so please rate my solution.

Hello,

The brightness issues with this model are usually caused by a power supply that is starting to fail. There are parts called capacitors that start to fail, when this happens the power supply can not get to the correct voltage outputs that it needs to properly run the back light bulbs. This type of problem causes either the dim display that you have or a wavy display until the unit can stabilize the output voltage. It is repairable if you can do a little soldering. You will need to replace the 5 capacitors on the power supply board. Here is a link to a repair guide for that unit that shows what needs to be replaced.

This is an easy fix, about 15 minutes once you have the parts.

Monitor is ghosting, white trails.

You might want to try detaching the monitor and trying it on another computer unit to see if the problem still exists.  If it only occurs on your unit, then try updating the drivers on your system and see if that solves it.

I have no blue light at the power button for my Synchmaster 225BW

The power switch is a momentary tactile switch. If you want to fix it, you will have to turn it off and look at the size of the switch to try to find the replacement for it. Not much you can do but open it up to find the cause of the problem.
