Hello, I have a problem with my Eureka Powerline bagged upright vacuum. It has a 12 amp motor and is model #4352, Type D. It was probably bought new in 1998. My problem is, while vacuuming today the motor seemed to slow down all of the sudden and then began smelling like burning rubber. I shut the vacuum off to check for blockages but could not find anything blocked. When I then turned it on again it runs but seems to only be running at 1/2 the motor speed and still has the rubber buring smell. It sounds like the motor is being restricted from running at full speed. Any Suggestions or Advice??? Thanks, Kyle [email protected] St. Louis, MO

It sounds like a rubber sealing in the motor has come loose and is being constantly rubbed against the walls of the motor with would cause the smell and loss of motor speed caused by the fricton of rubber against the rod so if you can get to the motor try to open it and see if you can get it if not take it to a small engine repair service hope this was helpful:)

I have a Eureka Contour model 2900 type A upright vacuum, the roller works fine nothing clogged, took it apart motor blade is free of debris, no suction from tube and blasts OUT air from the front HEPA...

Even with your explanation,it seems the hose is clogged.Try taking the hose off, then blow through it or pour water through it.If this doesn't do it,make sure the suction canals are going to the proper areas.

Need manual for Eureka Powerline Plus Model 9730 Type A - missing "door" that covers tool access port on body of upright motor...any ideas? This causes dirt to fly out unless tool hose is placed in...

Maybe you have already solved the problem this late in the game. Manuals for Eureka products can be found on http://www.eureka.com. Your local hardware store will have a bunch of different sizes of plastic caps in the plumbing section normally used for capping pvc tubing. If the outlet is round like an upright I had a few years ago you can pop one of these on and it'll do the trick. The cap shouldn't be more than a dollar or two, plus if you ever do want to use the tools again you didn't do any permanent damage to the port. Hope this helps!

I have to check the belt in the ereka powerline plus. how do I do that?

Below I have listed a link that will open the owners manual that has step by step instructions on how to change the belt. Also I have listed links for the replacement belt you need. Eureka recommends replacing your belt at least every 12 months.Hope this helps you.

What type of belt fits best with my eureka altima 12 amp

The replacement from Eureka will work for certain, but any brand of belt that indicates it can be used on that vacuum will work.

Let me know if you have any additional questions.

Motor for Eureka upright model 2315, new in 1977

If the motor is obsolete which it appears to be, have you considered repair?

Write my shop at [email protected], with enough information on the failure mode we can get you a close estimate, some of these older vacuums just cannot be beat, for performance, power, etc, We traditionally do not do retail work, but with the current conditions, and woodburning stove blowers rendering perfectly good stoves into land fills, and replacement costs of over $3000,. we have repaired many blowers and fire eyes from $50.00 to $159.00, it all depends on the degree of damage, but we are trying our hardest to salvage some very nice older equipment, let us know, references or see me at allexperts.com. How do you remove the vacuum roller off

I assume this an Eureka? If it is then there are 2 screws on the top cover, take them out and the cover will come off, the belt and brush roller are out in the open now. Brush roll Part #54941-1 and belt part #54312.
