Eureka Boss vacuum just quit
You have a clog in the hose (or somewhere) most likely the hose though. Find the clog -clean it out-let the machine cool down and you are back in business. This is really a good feature of the Eurekas because rather than continue to run and burn up the motor it shuts off -you clean it out and your vacuum is saved.
I have a Eureka The

My Vacuum is actually shooting
This happened to my vacuum also. I used it this way for quite a while, starting at one end of the room and "blowing" the dirt behind me as I went and then used a broom and dustpan when I got to the tile floor.
The problem was fixed the next time I changed the bag. Apparently, my husband had put the bag in backwards! hahaha Easy fix! :D So, check to make sure the bag is installed correctly!

The suction for carpet cleaning is great but there
Have you tried cleaning the hose from the vacuum end, the end that feeds the sweepings into the cannister/bag? Might be something close to that end of the hose.
Also, one reason for a hose not to work is the possibility of a cut or broken hose or a loose connection.
The closer an opening like this might be to the vacuum end of the hose, the less suction the unit will have through the hose as it will pull air through the hole/break easier than through the full length of the hose.
BOSS 5851 Wide Track, 12 Amp
The top comes off to get to the belt and brush roll. Did you check the brush roll to make sure that the ends turn freely, or is one not turning, the belt is a lon life "U" part #61120A. The brush roll is what drives the vacuum, but if brush roll or belt is bad, then it won't drive it.
Bare floor selection still rotates brushes
Your switch should have 2 different on positions. One for simple suction and one to engage the beater. The setting without the beater being engaged should be first position from off and the beater would be second position
