Maytag Performa PAV2200 makes a rumbling sound while agetating. Suspect a worn bearing or belt? Could you shed any light on this?

Yes it could be the spin bearing at the base on top of the brake assembly. I would suspect that the brake assembly is the cause of the noise as this engaged when you the washer agitates. If it was the bearing it would make a loud noise in the spin cycle, too.

Check with the belt off that the bowl will turn freely, if not check drum bearings or something caught between inner & outer bowl. Make sure when you fit new belt it is adjusted to the right tension or it will slip & burn.

I have a Maytag Performa Electric dryer which makes a rumbling noise every twenty or thirty seconds. It doesn't seem to be drying properly either. I checked the belt and it appears to be in good condition.

that rubbing noise is coming from either the rollers which are onthe bottom of the tub or the tensioner pulley. if you repair try to buy dryer rebuild kit as a kit its alot cheaper difference of paying 20-29 for the kit and 40-50 for seperate parts

Agitator noise in maytag performa machine

The noise in your washer tub could be caused by some object lodged under the agetator. Lift off agetator and check. Or somthing could have gotten into the sump tub. this could be a major job as you would have to remove the complete inner tub assy. One other problem I can think of it could be worn tub bearings. If the washer is 10 or 15 years old I would replace it,

Check the belt idler wheel by the motor. You may have to apply a little pressure to this wheel to see if the belt stops slipping. Keep in mind that the belt may be worn or stretched

Checking the pump woulb be the first step. The pump bearing get worn and begin to sqeal. If the pump is alright then the problem could be the spin bearing.

Maytag performa

Sounds like your motor brushes are very worn.(Its a bit like grinding metal when a cars brake pads are worn.)Should only cost 10 or so pounds for new ones, access to the motor will be required.Unplug washer b4 changing.
