EasyShare Z712IS Purchased this camera in Aug. I love it but I can't seem to keep a charged battery in it. I bought some 2X rechargeable NI-MH batteries. Maybe they are not the right ones for the camera. Since the battery that came with the camera went dead I have tried these and they only last for about 6 - 10 pictures before needing recharging. What kind of a battery is the best performer for this camera that is rechargeable?

I have bought 2 sets of rechargeable CRV3 batteries & chargers. None of the batteries' charges last longer than 8 pictures. This is extremely frustrating when at my childrens' school events/soccer games and I have to change batteries every 5 minutes or less. I have spent a total of about $60 on batteries & chargers and I am fed up! Help!

My z990 video will not record for more than 6 to 10 seconds. I have tried various batteries, recharged batteries, bought new batteries but it will not continue videoing!

The camera will work with any brand of lithium but only the KLIC 8000 battery will work as a rechargeable

please look at your getting started guide and check page 1, there's an illustration of the 3 types of batts that will work:
lithium crv3, lithium aa and klic 8000
ni-mh is really not compatible

please check at the bottom of your camera, the three types of batts I mentioned are engraved at the battery door

thank you

The camera seems to drain the batteries very quickly when not in use, example I put in new batteries and 4 days later they showed half full on the screen. They were the AA Ni-MH rechargeable batteries.

Be sure that your Ni-MH batteries have a high enough capacity to hold their charge for extended periods. The cheaper batteries are just that. If you have not tried this, get some new Energizer 2300 milli amp hour batteries. These should perform much better for you. If that does not solve the problem or you don't need to get new batteries, check to be sure there is not a continual contact that works like keeping the camera on all the time. I have seen this on another fix suggestion. Hope this helps. Keep looking for solutions posted on the web.

Won't use rechargeable batteries

It could be due to the fact that some rechargeable batteries are slightly different shapes and the nobbly bit on the + end doesn't reach far enough in, as it is the case with Maplin AA batteries.
In my case I placed a small drop of solder with a soldering iron on the + nipple and now they reach into any device.

Our 743 came with a photo docking station that would recharge batteres. Is there another way to charge them

Yes you can., You can need to purchase a wall charger for you r NI-Mh battery the model number of charger is kodak K620 for or if you want a travel charger the model number is kodak K640., Or if your battery is special battery of Ni-MH (KAA2HR) make sure that you will purchased kodak K4500 charger., KAA2HR battery will not charge using a regular wall charger., Check first your battery before purchasing the charger

My camera just does not seem to hold a good battery charge. I use fully charged batteries and this also happens with Duarcell too. I am only using the camera in the "on" selection.

Some digital camera **** the life out of batteries, especially the older ones, even when off. It stores info like date and time etc. I take the batteries out when I am not using it for a while. True it is a pain resetting the time but it saves the batteries. Also go for the top line rechargebles,

Kodak Z712 IS

How many pictures can you take with alkaline batteries?
The initial voltage of NI-MH is low and when it discharges, the voltage drop lower to a point where it is not high enough for the electric circuits of the camera. Alkaline batteries hold their voltage better.
Try SANYO eneloop recharchable batteries. They don't drop their voltage.
