Maytag MDB5100AWB Dishwasher not draining

I found standing water in the bottom of my Maytag MDB5100AWB Dishwasher. I removed, flushed and replaced hoses. Ran diswasher again and water still in bottom. I suspect pump. Any other ideas? If not, I need help to to find a replacement pump and installation instructions.

More than likely the filter is clogged, remove the spray arm(there is a threaded cap in the center of the arm twist it to the left, then remove the # 15 or 20 torx(star shaped) screws out of the filter cover(around the edges)The filter is round and runs around the outer edge of the pump housing it lifts right out, clean it and reverse the process. It's the most common issue with not draining on this model.

The drain hose needs to be higher at the point where it enters the sink cabinet than the drain connection to the sink drain. The drain line near the pump may have a back-flow prevention valve that is not working. I'm assuming that most of the water was pumped out initially.

There is standing water in bottom when cycle is over

Remove the bottom strainers plates and make sure that the outlet pipe is not kinked, that there is nothing obstructing the pipe or the pump or selector valve. If possible back flush through the outlet pipe and try draining the machine once more before using it again.

I have standing water in my dishwasher. How do I unclog the drain?

It will be smelly water and if you have access to a shop vac that will help you remove the standing water if not use a bowl or turkey blaster listed below.
Use a small bowl to remove standing water from washer to access screen to remove and check for blockage. Once you have removed all the water that you can with a bowl or cup. You can use a turkey blaster to sucton remaining water from dishwasher.
Then you remove screen and clean out drain and also check drain line for blockage from dishwasher to under sink.

Clean out drain to unclog in bottom of dishwasher and you may have to remove drain line to clean it.

#MDB5100AWB-water not draining. Screens were plugged bad. Taking all apart to clean/rinse.how do you take the bottom of assembly off? Thanks for any help.

hello. to remove the lower panel you will need a phillips head screwdriver and a flashlight. get right down there and you will see that it is attached with screws. remove them and the front panel will come right off.

Regarding your water not draining issue. Begin by disconnecting the rubber drain hose, and the small pump at the low end of that hose. Examine for debris and remove it. Next inspect the trap under the kitchen sink and the garbage disposal if that is included. Chances are you will find a blockage.

The bottom of the dishwasher has water standing in it and it won't go down

This is a clogged draining system. check the following to address this issue further.

1. Air gap / Drain hoses
If there is an air gap (located in the sink, near the faucet), check to see if it is clogged. Unscrew the top cap and see if there is anything blocking inside. Note: If there is no air gap installed, the dishwasher might not drain properly.

If the drain hose is clogged, the dishwasher would not drain. If there is an air gap installed, it is very common that a hose going from the air gap into the garbage disposer is clogged. Remove and clean the hose. Make sure to reattach the hose before starting the dishwasher.

Note: If you recently had a garbage disposer installed, it is common to overlook removing the drain plug.

2. Broken belt
Some dishwasher models use a belt to drive the pump. Replace the belt if found broken.

Note: Sometimes the belt would just come off the pump. Even though it might not be broken, it is recommended that you replace the belt, because it is probably too stretched out.

3. Pump
Some models have two impellers inside the pump - one, wash impeller, takes care of the wash cycles, the other, drain impeller, drains the water out. If the drain impeller is broken (broken blades, shaft), the dishwasher would not drain. Replace any broken pump components.

4. Drain solenoid
Some models (for example most GE dishwashers) use a drain solenoid to drain water out. Sometimes the solenoid gets stuck, preventing the water from draining out. Try to free up the solenoid. If unsuccessful, you might have to replace the pump assembly.

5. Motor
If the motor is stuck, it is sometimes possible to free it up by manually spinning the motor.

Replace the motor if defective.

6. Timer/control
Replace if defective (note: uncommon problem).

YOU CAN TRY REMOVING THE LOWER RACK AND LIFT OFF THE SPRAYER. THE DRAINAGE WHOLE IS USUALLY VISABLE. YOU CAN FLUSH OUT THE DRAIN TO SEE IF THAT DOES IT. THERE SHOULD BE NO STANDING WATER IN THE BOTTOM OF YOUR DISH WASHER AFTER WASH CYCLE AND DRY CYCLE. HOPE I COULD HELP.
