SOURCE: Janome Memory Craft 5700 LCD Screen
The LCD Backlight is prone to going dark eventually and fails progressively, but you can buy a replacement and even instal it yourself.....
We can now supply the LCD Backlight Screen for the Janome Memory Craft MC 8000 and Memory Craft MC 5700.
Keep your old Janome, save money and reduce unnecessary landfill.
It also comes with comprehensive installation instructions from the Original Janome Service Manual which are sent in advance so you can look at the "How to do it" before you decide whether you wish to DIY or enlist the services of a trusted friend or take the LCD Screen and installation instructions to your friendly local technician and have them do it for you.

You need to adjust the screen. Turn the machine off. Press simultaneously the three buttons on the front (Start, reverse and stop) at the same time turn the machine on.
Press the crosses that appear on the screen and it should all be fine.

2. on Sewing arm above needle there are a series of buttons
3. Hold down bottom 3 buttons
4. While holding turn on machine
5. Using scribe
6. Touch the centre of each + as it appears
7. It will go Centre bottom rh centre top lh as you select each + position it moves of it's own accord.
8. Turn off machine

Important sometimes this does not entirely fix prob!!

SOURCE: Screen dull on Janome mc 8000
There is an LCD Backlight Panel that illuminates the screen, and yes, they do fail.
Before you start, just check the screen contrast dial inside the top cover, front right, they can be easily knocked and this will also cause the screen to go light or dark.
Janome no longer supplies the LCD Backlight, however, we have an after market replacement at our store, and also provide fitting instructions and a good deal more besides.
If you care to contact me I can send a Diagnostic Routine and the Screen Reset instructions for you to check if there is anything else causing troubles.
Please remember to give details of your dilemma as we do receive a lot of requests.
