Some depends on weather or not not your sink w
As coated or not but sanding the finish may help.

Do NOTuse steel wool on stainless as it will leave particles embedded in the stainless.

Try 400 to 600 grit sandpaper on an area to see if the contaminated metal will be removed. If this works for you try to use the finer grit in all areas of the sink to blend it in.

The acid has already "etched" your sink so you can't remove those marks, they're probably permanent.
They are not dirty.

SOURCE: How to Install Stainless Sink Baskets?

The stainless steel basin had a pair of big holes in the bottom, suitable for attaching strainer baskets or a garbage disposal. The basket comes with a black rubber gasket that seals underneath the basin, a thick paper washer, and a die-cast metal lock nut to clamp the basket onto the basin. There is also a smaller lock nut that connects the sink tail-piece (the first part of the drain system) to the basket. You should apply a bead of clear silicone to the rim of the opening. Also apply a small bead of silicone to the underside of the edge of the basket. olding the basket by the center, set it in the hole and gave it a slight turn to spread the silicone slightly. Down Under: apply a thin layer of pipe thread compound (a.k.a. pipe dope) to the larger diameter threads. Few plumbers use thread compound here, but I believe in lubricating threads whenever possible. There have been so many times that I needed to remove a basin lock nut, but was unable to because of the slight corrosion that inevitably forms there. Thread compound would prevent this problem. The metal lock nut, the rubber gasket and the paper washer were installed, turning by hand most of the way. The only practical way to tighten these huge lock nuts is to use a pair of 18" jumbo Channel-Lock pliers. To hold the basket from turning, use a pair of screwdrivers placed in an X-formation in the little holes. The lock nut must not be over-tightened, or the rubber gasket can be squeezed out of place, which could cause a leak.

SOURCE: SCRATCHED STAINLESS STEEL SINK

Try contacting Prime Time Solutions 1-800-333-9525. They have products for all sorts of problems with stainless steel sinks. I called there with my "scratch" problem & their representative, Elaine, who is very knowledgeable, gave me a couple of avenues to take. She even sent me a free small sample of Flitz to try. I liked the product so much I ordered some from her.

SOURCE: I need a new franke

You should purchase a complete basket strainer assembly. Home Depot or Lowes have some very nice ones. They are a standard size.
Tell them it's for your kitchen sink.

Dose Muriatic Acid damage Chrome

muriatic acid aka hydrocloric acid will attack chrome plating. (Pretty safe on Google Chrome though ;-]) If you are thinking about chromed pool fittings those are pretty safe as the ph in pools is pretty nuetral even after shocking a pool.

If you are talking about the acid undiluted on chrome it will atack it but that will depend on the chrome, the acid strength and how long it is left on. Some people do use the acid to clean the chrome but wash off the acid right away with lots of water.

Salt sensor is dirty;
Use diluted solution of muriatic acid. Contact spa store for comments/suggestions.
Brush with a mildly abrasive green fiber household cleaning pad. Contacts should be clean and bright.
WARNING Inhalation of muriatic acid vapor or contact with skin or eyes can cause serious injury or death. Wear goggles and rubber gloves, and perform cleaning in a well-ventilated area. Add acid to the water; do not add water to the acid as splashing could result.

Thoroughly rinse the Flow/Temp/Salinity Sensor with clean tap water. Replace and resume normal operation.

Hayward eC-40 pump losing pressure very fast

A better way to clean the filter tubes in the EC40 is to remove the filter tube assembly and soak it in a 5 gallon paint pail that is filled with a solution of water and a 20% muriatic acid, available at hardware and home center stores. Be very careful handling the muriatic acid. Don't splash it around.

Mix it in a 1-to-1 ratio with water and soak the assembly for at least 8 hours. Keep the soaking pail out of the reach of kids and animals.

Remove the assembly, properly dispose of the acid mix and refill the pail with clean water. Soak again for 3 to 4 hours, then reassemble your filter.

Some pool guys say it isn't necessary to soak the tubes in clean water because the muriatic acid will not harm the pool water and will reduce the pH if it's too high. I've always soaked them to be safe.

This is a link to the Hayward manual that describes the process:
