There are several ways to deal with this issue. First, it is a concern that the sony software should not be working correctly on a new laptop. It's possible that you installed some kind of Internet security suite, registry cleaner, or other software that has interfered with the functions of the vaio software, but without knowing the specifics, I'd say one option is to contact sony support directly and hear their recommendations. This is not an uncommon error, as you'll see if you google the error message. Here is one typical forum post.
Sony support for your model is here.
If you want to retain the sony vaio survey software on you system, you could try to follow the esupport recommendations in the post above to uninstall the Vaio survey and reinstall it from the recovery center in help & support. If you can't find it in programs and features, after looking in installed programs, and checking under Sony & Vaio Survey, look in the Startup programs.
If you still can't find it, try looking in Start>All Programs>Sony>... and see if there's an uninstall entry for it there.2nd, you could use the system restore feature to restore your system to a point prior to the appearance of this problem. You will not lose documents or files added to the system since that time, but would need to reinstall software installed after that point.
"To restore the operating system to an earlier point in time, follow these steps:
Click Start, type system restore in the Start Search box, and then click System Restore in the Programs list.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or confirmation, type your password or click Continue.
In the System Restore dialog box, click Choose a different restore point, and then click Next.
In the list of restore points, click a restore point that was created before you began to experience the issue, and then click Next.
Click Finish.
The computer restarts, and the system files and settings are returned to the state that they were in at the time that the restore point was created."You can use msconfig to turn it off. See this link for instructions on how to do so. Note that this will not remove the vista vaio survey.exe from your computer in the same way that an uninstall programs would, but will merely disable it and keep it from starting up when the system boots. It would be better if you don't want it to uninstall it.
I hope that gets you there. If you have further questions, please write back with the details....
