I have an ATEC 42 lcd tv. For weeks now the remote hasn't been working properly (or rather the tv is not responding to it) I have replaced the batteries several times with no joy. Today the tv made a lot of electrical crackling noises so i turned it off. it was quite hot?! 2 hours later i tried to turn it on again, the light came on for a few seconds then went yellow and turned off. Now it just keeps making ticking noises when i press the on button, but nothing happens no tv, no lights, nothing except a bit noise. I am guessing it's toast. Should I even try to fix it, maybe replace the cord? What are the chances a technician could fix it, and would it be worth the money to pay one to try?
Hi, my suggestion would be to at least have it looked at and let the technician explain what happened and how much it will cost to fix .At that point you can make an informed decision as to have it repaired or have it replaced. If you can get it repaired then I am sure it would be less expensive that buying a new T.V.
