the drive cable probley kinked or bent and does not drive the head the cable goes from the motor to the head take the clamp bolt out and lift the head off the cutter check the cable

Is the string spool seated on the rachet correctly? If so and all is well, it is worth noting that these trimmers auto feed fuunction is problematic at best, requiring manually unwinding some line every few minutes as the unit gets older.

I had the same problem, The pully is plastic and is mostlikely melted. I took mine apart when it finally stopped working and found that the belt had broken as well. When taking it apart, there is a hidden screw under the black sticker label. Just feel for the soft spot. Also, there are screws under the black plastic embelishments.
