I just got a Roland A-37 Controller used on eBay, hoping I could use it as a controller for my two keyboards. I have no prior experience using a controller, and thought it would just be a plug-'n-play experience—God, I fel like such a MIDI dummy!
The A-37 has a 3-character LED, a row of 8 buttons and an A/B bank button. I'm trying to set and save patch changes to my connected Kawai keyboard's 001 to 200 patch positions ( receiving successfully on Chn 8 ). I tried reading the A-37 manual, but it's only 12 pages, and doesn't offer any examples.
I don't understand how to align the A-37's numbers to call up my Akai's patch numbers, or how the A-37's bank numbers match the patch numbers on my other keybroads....AND I have to keep resetting the MIDI transmit channel whenever I try to save what I assume are the right A-37 patch settings to one of its bank button positions.
I want to assign my Kawai patches 005, 008, 013, 018, 038, 041, 051 and 111 to my A-37 patch buttons 1-1 thru 1-8—can you help? I'm really a novice at using MIDI.
