During periods of high humanity, there will be considerable condensation (water) forming on the evaporator (cooling) coil. The A/C cabinet of a window unit must be slightly tilted outward to allow the accumulated water to flow toward the condenser (outside) coil and fan. The unit is designed to allow the outside fan blades to pick-up the water and throw it through the condenser coil fins. The cooling effect on the condenser coil actually improves the inside cooling efficiency, plus lowers the operation cost.

They are not filled with water thats the condensation that it is making, its all good, keep the temp at a steady rate, when you get it ice cold then shut her down it makes moisture which then is water.

SOURCE: We have a 2007 Amana

That is a normal function of the air conditioning. Nothing to worry about, it is removing humidity from the air.

SOURCE: Bought Amana 7000 BTU portable

Self absorbtion means that the water is evaporated by the blower blowing air over the condensation. On very humid days there may be too much water to evaporate. There should be a drain outlet on the back and it may be blocked. Clean it if you can find it.

Excess water prodution in portable 14000 BTU unit. See below

all a/c units remove moisture from air with cooling coil being cold and room air blowing across coil - depends how humid it is - i have used several different portable units and this seems to be a common problem if it is humid

Why do i have to empty the water out every 2 hours 14000 btu portable plus humidifier aitconditioner 14200 btu heat pump

That is normal for a portable a/c unit if it has a drain on it you can put it on a shelf or counter and allow it to drain to a floor drain or sink. some newer units come with a pump to remove the condensate, this is the water you normaly see driping out of the a/c units in windows

Dont have book...dont know how to clean unit

The manual doesnt give much insight. Vacuum/wash(no dishwasher) the filter(remove by pushing down and away from the unit. Its right on top on the back. As alway unplug before. Wipe the outside. thats it in the manual.

Bought Amana 7000 BTU portable air conditioner for my father and he is telling me that it's leaking all over. I thought it was a self absorbtion.
