Before you buy the carpet attachment, you might want to read this review. I found it very helpful because I couldn't find much on how it works on your carpet or any reviews on the attachment. Her comments were all positive.

SOURCE: v1917n shark vacuum won't run

Mine did the same thing, actually both of them did. I had ordered two at the same time. I love these vacuums. They are so convenient to use and do a terrific job, at least until they acted up and did not want to run.

The first one would power up for a second or two and then quit and the three lights would flash. I tried everything to get it to work. I switched batteries and the charger cord with the new one, but still it did the same thing. So, I opened my second new one up and began using it. I worked for several months and then just here a couple of days ago it too began acting just like the first one did.

I took the corner brush off and then the rotator brush off and removed all the hair, strings, and etc., from around the brushes and also all the areas of the vacuum where any could be at. I put it all back together and it turned for several seconds and then the three lightw would flash again.

I had given up on them working again and was going to be boxing then both up and send back for replacements and was looking at buying another brand of cordless rechargeable sweeper. I had found one to buy, but still I knew that I would miss the Shark vacuums.

Well, tonight I took the second one apart again and looked at areas where I might have missed any hair or strings that might have wound around anything that might keep the brush from turning. I found some wound around the rotator brush end piece that is on the side opposite to the belt. At first I thought that a rubber gasket was worn that fit over the little metal rod that is at the end of the rotator brush, but when it still would not run, then I was thinking that the belt needed to be changed.

I have read somewhere, where someone said that it was hard to change the belts. Well, with the Shark that I have, which has three speeds and the handle that drops down in the middle so that you can vacuum under beds and etc, it is easy to change. There is a tab that you have to push that is next to the wheel on the belt side of the underside of the vacuum, and it opens to reveal the belt.

Well, when I opened it----------there was a tremendous lot of fibers and hair wrapped around the belt wheel and in the chamber leading up to the wheel that the belt attaches to the rotator brush. After taking the belt off the bottom wheel and cleaning all the hair and fibers off it and removing all the rest in the chamber, I put everything back together and it powered up and ran just like it did when I first got it.

I also got the first one working also. I don't have to send them back and have to wait a long time for replacements. Just a word of advice------------keep the rotator brush clean and the area around the belt at the bottom and anywhere else where hair and strings can wrap around. Keep a check on it weekly and it might keep them running.

SOURCE: I need to purchase a new adapter for a Shark Cordless Sweeper

what you need is a 7.5 volt DC 150mA charger. If you check on some sites like ebay you may locate one. Another option is you may be able to go to an electronic repair shop and they might make one up for you. You nedd to bring them the sweeper so they know what connector needs to on it. A 7.5 volt is not expensive or uncomon and barrel plugs are cheap also.

Testimonial: "Thank you very much, your solution was quite helpful."

How to raise the vacuum for thicker plush carpet

Some models are 'all floors' which means the brush bar can be disengaged or engaged dependent on the floor type (so disengaged for hard floors and engaged for carpets). Other models do not have this option and the brush bar is permanently engaged.

Trying to get batterys for shark rechargable sweeper model #v1725QC 4.8Vdc I'am located in london ontario canada can I get batters locally?

I have a Shark Cordless Sweeper that needs a new battery too. (Model V1725QC 4.8V) I Googled around and finally gave up and phoned the number on the bottom of the Cordless Sweeper. No problem. The lady did ask me for the "DATE CODE" that is stamped in the silver part on the bottom of the sweeper. The number was 4608 (not easy to read). The battery cost is $16.95 and with Shippling the total came to $22.90. I should receive it in about 7-10 business days. It will be coming from Quebec to BC so that is the total Canadian Price. All model info is on the bottom. The Phone number is on the bottom of your Cordless Sweeper in white lettering on the black plastic towards the rear. The Phone Number is 1-800-798-7398. I hope this will help some other people. Just phone them - best to stick with the Shark Company batteries and they are not easy to find otherwise. No fuss, no muss when I called. No problem ... just gotta wait now. You can also try "www.sharkclean.com" ...

Agitator stops when sweeper is pulled backward

If you have made no changes to the vacuum's setup and are using it on same carpet you have previously used it on with no problem, then the most likely cause is the agitator/beater bar's drive belt is worn or on some models may have a tension adjustment which is set too loosely. This can also be caused by having the vacuums height adjustment set to low for the carpet or flooring you are using it on, causing to much drag when the vacuum is pulled backwards for the agitator to overcome.

The vast majority of agitators turn in a forward direction, as if it would pull the vacuum forward, when you pull the vacuum backwards the drag is increased.

So...First check height adjustment (a no cost fix), then check out the tension adjustment (if present on you model, some engage when top of vacuum is tilted back after stepping on the release pedal) Lastly, consider changing belt especially if you have had the vacuum awhile or if it gets a fair amount of use or it you seem to need to use it on a low height setting all the time to vacuum up debris.

Hope this helps!
