Toto CST853 cistern will not refill. Was fine yesterday. City is working on pipes and broke a water main last evening, all other faucets and toilets are working....can I clean the water filter or does it need to be replaced...I think that I have a debris clog..thanks

Thank you Mr. Guru...My "pump" is a Hunter...screwed off
There was some debris. The water valve had the most.
I removed the flexible hose (not flexible in mine) and
turned the water back on a bit...out came major debris.
So the toilet now works...BUT it won't stop running....
Now I have to fix that...this is the powder room tight
    spaces..oh, well...what did I have to do on a Sat. afternoon anyway....Thank you again....vsp

Alot of times you can turn the water off to the toilet and the tops of the fill valves usually pop or screw off. then if you put a small cup over the top of the fill valve you can turn it back on and flush the debris out and put it back together. if its a fluid master type you can pop the top off it. and turn the float arm a 1/4 to half turn and the whole top will come off

I have a toto toilet , model MS604114CEFG , bought 2 years ago . Last night , when I flushed it , the water level in the toilet bowl did not come down . It stay high in the bowl . In the tank reservoi

If the toilet is the only fixture in the bathroom group that is having an issue, then there is a partial blockage in Strap of toilet or in drain pipe close to toilet. If other fixtures are showing sluggish drainage, then the main drainage line is clogged. If all is fine with tub lav shower etc., pull toilet from floor and carefully turn upside down, and look to see if anything is visable. if so remove it and reinstall with new seal(wax ring). Also, look into pipe and see if any water is standing in it. If water is standing in pipe, the drain line is clogged and must be rodded(snaked) out to cure problem
tip

FIXING A TOILET THAT WILL NOT FLUSH!!! a simple but very effective money saving...

This simple how to, is based upon most lever operated toilets, with the cistern mounted above the toilet bowl. The make and model of toilet used for this feature is of the following:
Toilet and internal syphon
DUDLEY ELITEDudley S7 Cascade syphon
Problem:
My toilet will not flush, but the ball float valve is working and there is water in the cistern; no leaks present and the flushing lever is not broken or disconnected, what do I do?
Answer:
first isolate the water to the toilet or the main water supply to the house. Bail out the water from the cistern using a small jug or cup, (or you can syphon the water manually using a hosepipe or similar pipe, a towel to cover your mouth, and either a bucket or the toilet bowl) and remove water from the bottom of the cistern with a sponge.

Changing the syphon in a toilet that is not close coupled is far easier as you do not need to remove the cistern from the wall!

Undo the lower of the two large nuts beneath the cistern using a large pipe wrench or pair of water pump pliers, now disconnect the flush pipe and push it to one side.
Place a bucket or bowl beneath the cistern and undo the Nut which is immediately below the cistern (syphon replacing nut), some water may be released by the syphon, take note of any washers that are removed as new ones need fitting when replacing the siphon.
Unhook the lift rod from the flushing lever and remove the syphon.

Inside the toilet syphon, there will be a small plastic piece of sheet called a diaphragm; you can fabricate a replacement using the plastic title cover on a DVD case. Cut this to the exact same size and shape as the original part, and fit this to where the original diaphragm was. This is your new replacement.

Refitting is a complete reversal of removal, be sure to fit any washers (preferably new ones) that you have taken out. Ensure everything is tight but do not over tighten before refilling the cistern

My toto toilet flushes and refills fine, but it just started making loud noises when refilling. The noise stops when the tank is full

Your fill valve is going bad it can be replace with a new fluidmaster instead of the Ultra-G you have in it its going bad they do over time you may want to check your house water pressure in case that may have been what broke it you don';t want to break a new one.

After a water main problem in the neighborhood was worked on with my home losing water pressure the water in the house became airborne. My toto gmax flushed once or twice with brown water and then...

turn off water to toilet.Take the three top screws out of the flush valve .Which is that valve the water pours out from to fill the tank.clean the diaphram inside.Probably see alot of dirt inside. You'll probably want to take all your aerators off your faucets and flush the dirt out of them too

Gravity fed toilet cistern-no water feed.

First I would disconnect the supply line and see if I have water to that point. If so, than take apart or replace the ballcock or float valve. If not continue to trace problem backward untill found. Hope this helps.

How do i fix a cistern that is continually leaking in to the toilet bowl? i have tried to open the cistern at the flush button unit but do not want to force open. tried twisting but is quite tight.

most modern toilets do not have an overflow pipe to outside instead they overflow into the bowl itself so have to adjust level so it does not overflow into return

Toto fill valve continual problem, new toilet

There are cheep fill valves and ther better built fill valves, so make sure you buy aa quality fill valve. Also buy a pressuer gauge at ahard ware store and check water pressure level at a faucet outlet. Screw gauge onto water fauct leave a little room for air to escape when water is drippng out tighten the hose bib on the gage turn on the faucet and read the pressure. If it's more than 50 PSI you need to lower the water pressuer. I need to know if your on a, on site underground well,or are on city water to tell you what you need to do to to fix this problem. If there is one. thanks for using Fix-ya if you want more info post here.

Toilet cistern doesn't fill up

it sounds like one or more of your shut off valves has a glog from hard water calcium. were from indiana its a big problem here.To check this u will have to shut off main water supply and remove top of shut off valve and check for white crusty blockage, even if u see a few particals its present. It can severely restrict flow.
